Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms, and knowledge of responsive design tools are typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote work success. These skills ensure that developers can build robust web applications, collaborate efficiently across locations, and adapt to evolving project needs.

What is a remote web developer?

Remote web developers are professionals who design, build, and maintain websites or web applications while working from a location outside of a traditional office, often from home or any place with internet access. They use programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various frameworks to create user-friendly and responsive web experiences. Remote web developers collaborate with clients and team members virtually, utilizing tools for communication, project management, and version control. This job offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with clients or companies worldwide.

What does a remote web developer do?

Remote web developers work in conjunction with a team to generate online traffic for their clients' products and services by creating eye-catching, efficient websites or web applications. Regular stand-up meetings, code reviews, and collaborative documentation are essential to ensure everyone is aligned and project milestones are met. Developers often work closely with designers, product managers, and QA testers, requiring strong written and verbal communication skills to clarify requirements, share progress, and resolve issues efficiently. Job description

Established in 2004, OLIVER is the world's first and only specialist in designing, building, and running bespoke in-house agencies and marketing ecosystems for brands. We partner with over 300 clients in 40+ countries and counting. Our unique model drives creativity and efficiency, allowing us to deliver tailored solutions that resonate deeply with audiences.

As a part of The Brandtech Group, we're at the forefront of leveraging cutting-edge AI technology to revolutionise how we create and deliver work. Our AI solutions enhance efficiency, spark creativity, and drive insightful decision-making, empowering our teams to produce innovative and impactful results.

Role: Front End Developer

Location: Toronto, Canada (Remote)

About the role:

As Front End Developer, you'll be responsible for accurately implementing designs from brief to live environment — working across multiple concurrent products, including custom developments and mobile-responsive applications. You'll ensure all code meets quality standards, best practices, and company regulations, work closely with testers to confirm correct functionality, and take ownership of day-to-day bug fixing. Alongside delivery, you'll stay current with emerging technologies and actively explore how new and existing tools can be pushed further for clients.

What you will be doing:
  • Accurately implement designs produced by the creative and design team across banners, CRM, email, microsites, and other digital projects.
  • Build and maintain projects within WYNG and PRM platforms, alongside custom developments and mobile-responsive applications.
  • Ensure all code conforms to agreed standards, coding methodologies, and best practices — and that all releases to live environments meet company regulations.
  • Produce quality, reliable code and work collaboratively with testers to confirm correct functionality and behaviour.
  • Own day-to-day bug fixing, resolving issues efficiently and communicating clearly with the wider team.
  • Liaise with the creative team to assess the feasibility of concepts and layouts within programme and technology constraints — contributing to the design process early to prevent downstream issues.
  • Research and maintain current knowledge of new technologies and developments, proactively exploring how they can add value for clients.
  • Work effectively within an Agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and iterative delivery
What you need to be great in this role:
  • Proven proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3 (including SASS) — you write clean, well-structured markup and stylesheet code.
  • Strong JavaScript skills with experience in Angular (TypeScript) or comparable frameworks.
  • Experience hand-coding HTML email, with a solid understanding of cross-client rendering and email best practice.
  • Familiarity with NPM, Git, and task runners such as Gulp or Grunt.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and/or AEM.
  • Experience working with web services and JSON.
  • Familiarity with third-party ad serving platform implementations.
  • Basic design skills and an appreciation for creative direction — you can interpret and execute a creative vision with accuracy and care.
  • Sharp attention to detail and an analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to learn and adapt quickly to new languages, platforms, and technologies.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Clear, confident communication — you can articulate technical constraints and solutions to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience in financial services is an advantage, though not essential.
  • Proficiency with Gen AI tools relevant to front-end development — including code generation, debugging support, and documentation assistance — to improve output quality and efficiency.
  • Experience building personal AI workflows to accelerate development tasks without compromising code quality or standards.
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code outputs, applying rigorous human review and technical judgement before implementation.
  • Agentic approach to development challenges: you break down complex, multi-component builds systematically and find clear, efficient paths to delivery.
  • Formal qualifications are welcome but not required. Equivalent experience — gained through work, self-directed learning, open source contribution, or other routes — counts equally.
