• Conduct thorough and empathetic mental health assessments tailored to the distinct needs of older adults, considering both psychological and social factors.
• Formulate and implement individualized treatment plans that account for cognitive changes, coexisting physical health challenges, and specific social circumstances.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and supportive counseling, to facilitate both individual and family therapy sessions.
• Work in close coordination with geriatric psychiatrists and allied healthcare professionals to provide a holistic approach to patient care.
• Deliver crisis intervention and timely support in emergency situations related to the mental health of elderly patients.
• Educate patients and their families about the intricacies of mental health conditions, treatment pathways, and available community resources to empower informed decision-making.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation that meets the standards of legal and ethical guidelines, utilizing industry-leading electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Participate actively in team meetings, case discussions, and ongoing professional development activities, contributing to a culture of continuous learning.
• Keep up to date with the latest research and developments in geriatric psychiatry to ensure our practices reflect current best practices.

This role specifically focuses on addressing the mental health issues faced by the geriatric population. You will engage with elderly patients experiencing various psychiatric conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, and dementia-related challenges. Your expertise and compassionate approach will be crucial in navigating the complexities of mental health care for older adults, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Active and valid licensure as an LCMFT, LCPC, LCP, LCSW, LSCSW, or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in the state of Kansas.
• Minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting, preferably working with geriatric populations.
• In-depth knowledge of mental health disorders affecting older adults and current evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
• Proven experience in delivering therapeutic services to individuals and families within this demographic.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating an empathetic and patient-centered approach.
• Ability to establish trust and rapport with elderly patients and their families, fostering a safe environment for treatment.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and proficient in utilizing various computer applications for clinical documentation and communication.

• Experience in geriatric mental health settings, particularly with assessment and treatment of dementia-related disorders.
• Previous involvement in crisis intervention and management of acute mental health emergencies among elderly patients.
