About the Role
Are you a customer-focused sales professional who thrives on autonomy, building lasting relationships, and driving business growth? GFL Environmental is expanding our Alabama team, and we are looking for a dedicated Account Manager to take ownership of our Montgomery, AL territory!
This role offers the flexibility of working remotely from home, paired with active field engagement. Because strong relationships and exceptional service are at the core of what we do, you will spend significant time on the road meeting face-to-face with commercial and industrial clients. To effectively serve this market, candidates must reside in or around the Montgomery, AL area.
This is a unique remote role that gives you the flexibility of working from home, but because relationships are the core of what we do, it requires frequent travel throughout your assigned territory. Because of this, candidates must be local to the Montgomery, AL area.
What You'll Do
  • Grow & Protect Accounts: Promote, sell, and preserve GFL's solid waste services across your territory-nurturing existing commercial relationships while securing new business.
  • Own Your Territory: Hit the road regularly to meet face-to-face with current and prospective customers, assessing their waste management needs and providing top-tier service.
  • Strategic Solutions: Conduct waste stream analyses, prepare competitive sales contracts, manage pricing and margins, and deliver compelling presentations to key decision-makers.
  • Be the Face of GFL: Build deep roots in the local business community by representing GFL at business meetings, industry events, and civic organizations.

What We're Looking For
  • Location: Must reside in or around the Montgomery, AL area.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of proven B2B sales or account management experience (knowledge of the solid waste or environmental services industry is a huge plus!).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience).
  • Road Ready: Valid state driver's license and comfort with daily territory travel and extended driving time.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, strong business acumen (pricing, margins, and discounts), and the self-motivation to manage your day under limited supervision.

Why GFL?
At GFL Environmental, you aren't just managing accounts-you're delivering essential, sustainable environmental solutions. We offer a dynamic team environment, competitive compensation, and the independence to truly own and support your local market.
