What is a Remote VR?

A Remote VR job involves working with virtual reality (VR) technology from a remote location. This can include roles in VR development, design, support, or content creation for applications such as gaming, training, and simulations. Employees use VR headsets, software, and collaboration tools to build or interact with virtual environments. Remote VR jobs require skills in programming, 3D modeling, UX design, or technical support, depending on the specific role.

What does a Remote VR do?

A typical day for a Remote VR professional often involves collaborating with designers, developers, and project managers through virtual meetings, writing and reviewing code for VR applications, prototyping immersive environments, and testing builds on various devices. You may spend time researching new VR techniques, documenting your work, and communicating progress or challenges with your team using digital collaboration tools. Depending on the project phase, tasks can shift between creative brainstorming, intensive programming, and quality assurance testing. Working remotely gives flexibility, but strong time management is essential to meet project milestones and ensure effective teamwork.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote VR position, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote VR (Virtual Reality) professional, you need a solid background in VR development or design, strong programming skills (often in Unity or Unreal Engine), and a relevant degree in computer science, digital media, or a related field. Familiarity with VR hardware platforms (such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive), 3D modeling software, and possibly certifications in XR or immersive technologies are typically valuable. Strong communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills help you stand out when collaborating with distributed teams and managing projects independently. These abilities support effective creation and troubleshooting of immersive experiences in a remote work environment.

Revolutional is seeking a Technical Lead / Chief Security Architect-Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority for enterprise security architecture supporting an anticipated Veteran Affairs (VA) Program in a large-scale health IT environment. This role bridges legacy systems and next-generation technology — cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, post-quantum cryptography, and AI — translating mission and customer requirements into secure, resilient architecture that a large program can build against. The ideal candidate has led security architecture at the scale and complexity of a major federal agency and is equally comfortable in a design review, a risk-management working session, or a whiteboard session with engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for enterprise security architecture across legacy and emerging health IT systems.
  • Lead security architecture and engineering efforts, translating customer and mission requirements into actionable technical direction for the project team.
  • Advance the development of legacy and new health IT digital architectures spanning cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), cryptography, quantum computing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
  • Lead enterprise risk management activities across the security architecture lifecycle.
  • Apply Enterprise Architecture (EA) tools and guide architecture processes and products (e.g., SABSA) to support consistent, repeatable architecture practice.
  • Perform analysis and research on complex technical problems and processes relevant to enterprise security architecture.
  • Coordinate with program and project leadership to analyze system architectures during design reviews and throughout the conceptual design lifecycle.
  • Identify strategies for addressing requirements, risks, and issues; conduct detailed trade-off analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance constraints.
  • Create architecture diagrams and documentation covering all components that comprise IT systems, including network topology.
  • Ensure architecture and engineering practice aligns with federal security frameworks and policy, including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS Controls, and HIPAA.
  • Provide project management oversight for security architecture initiatives, including scope, schedule, and resource coordination.

Required Qualifications — Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of Enterprise Security Architecture / Information Security experience at a large company or government agency comparable in size and scope to GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.
    • An additional advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in an IT-related field may substitute for up to 5 years of the required experience. [
  • Expertise in project management, security architecture, and security engineering, with the ability to translate customer requirements and relay them to the team.
  • Expertise and ability to advance the development of legacy and new health IT digital architectures, including cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, VR/XR, 5G, PQC, DLP, cryptography, quantum computing, and AI technologies.
  • Expertise in risk management.
  • Expertise using Enterprise Architecture (EA) tools.
  • Expertise guiding architecture tool processes and products (e.g., SABSA).
  • Expertise performing analysis and research of complex problems and processes relating to the subject matter.
  • Expertise coordinating with program and project leaders to analyze system architectures during design reviews and throughout the conceptual design lifecycle.
  • Expertise identifying strategies for addressing requirements, risks, and issues, and conducting detailed trade-off analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance constraints.
  • Expertise creating diagrams and documentation covering all components that comprise IT systems, including network topology.
  • Expertise in security frameworks and federal policies, processes, and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS Controls, HIPAA).

Required Qualifications — Education

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, or Network Systems Communications Management.
