Job description

About the Role:

Onward Search is a national staffing company with 19 years of experience delivering specialized talent to leading organizations across the country. The company is launching a new staffing division to supply licensed behavioral health professionals to hospitals, health centers, recovery treatment facilities, and related healthcare providers. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader to build this business from the ground up—shaping the strategy, winning the first clients, and turning the division into a meaningful growth engine for the company.

As Vice President, you will lead the launch and growth of our Behavioral Health Staffing division, owning both client strategy and recruiting execution. You will be responsible for developing the Go-to-Market plan, winning early clients, and building a scalable recruiting engine to attract and engage licensed behavioral health professionals in a competitive, locally driven talent market. This role requires a hands-on operator with a strong grasp of behavioral health workforce dynamics and a proven ability to build pipelines, drive growth, and lead teams.

This is a unique opportunity for a visionary and entrepreneurial leader to build the next growth engine for our company.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the business plan for the Behavioral Health Staffing Division, including go-to-market strategies and sales goals.
  • Drive growth by identifying new business opportunities, expanding the client base, and positioning the division as a leader in behavioral health staffing.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals that align with the company’s overall strategic vision.

Business Development & Sales

  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across our client base and lead sales efforts to secure new staffing contracts with healthcare providers.
  • Create and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets for the division.

Recruiting & Candidate Acquisition

  • Build a scalable recruiting engine and team with clear pipeline, submittal, and start targets.
  • Implement AI-centric recruiting workflows for sourcing, outreach, screening, matching, and pipeline management to drive max efficiency per recruiter.
  • Partner with marketing to define and execute candidate acquisition strategy for priority behavioral health roles.
  • Continuously refine sourcing channels and process based on performance and market signals.

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of recruiters, account managers, and support staff dedicated to behavioral health staffing.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture that aligns with the company’s values and goals.
  • Ensure that the team is delivering exceptional service to both clients and candidates.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the division, including staffing placements, client management, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including HR, marketing, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of services.
  • Monitor market trends and client needs to adapt strategies and service offerings.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in behavioral health staffing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in sales, business development, and growing a division or business unit.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health ecosystem
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to secure and maintain large contracts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, KPI-driven environment.
  • Bachelors degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to build and lead a new division with significant growth potential.
  • Competitive compensation package with performance-based incentives.
  • Collaborative and supportive company culture focused on innovation and excellence.

Salary:

  • $125,000 - $140,000, based on experience.
  • Commission eligible with annual bonus opportunity tied to achievement against budget.
  • Comprehensive benefits and PTO package, including 401k, offered.
