Job description

We're Looking For A: Creative Video Strategist

Location: Hybrid (El Segundo, CA and/or Burbank/North Hollywood, CA)

What You'll Be Doing: The mission of this role is to concept, script, and direct high-performing paid social video ads that drive customer acquisition and growth. This role partners closely with internal production, post-production, and marketing teams to develop, test, and optimize performance creative across paid channels. 

  • Develop fresh ad angles and concepts for our dog and cat food brands, using consumer insights, product benefits, competitive research, trends, and creative performance to continuously fuel new ideas.
  • Turn concepts into compelling direct-response scripts, with a strong focus on hooks, storytelling, pacing, persuasion, and creating ads that capture attention and drive action.
  • Bring your concepts to life on set, partnering with our production team on both UGC and larger-scale shoots and directing talent to ensure the idea translates effectively on camera.
  • Own the creative through post-production, working directly with editors and providing clear feedback on structure, pacing, performance, visuals, and other elements that make the final ad stronger.
  • Use Meta performance data to learn and iterate, identifying winning angles, hooks, messages, and formats and developing hypotheses around why creative worked or didn't work to inform the next round of testing.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of new creative, balancing completely new concepts with smart iterations of proven winners so we're continuously testing, learning, and finding new opportunities to scale.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance creative strategy and output, including ideation, scripting, trend analysis, and rapid iteration of high-performing ad concepts.
  • Available to drive and occasionally travel to locations in order to film and gather footage and conduct interviews.

  • 3-5+ years of experience bringing scripts to life through Video and Film/Visual Storytelling.
  • Completed internships in a related field, engaged in freelance work, or personal projects can be just as important as formal education.
  • Strong understanding of direct-response creative and digital advertising.
  • Exceptional storytelling and scriptwriting skills for video.
  • Strong creative instincts with the ability to develop fresh ad angles and concepts.
  • Experience with on-set creative leadership and directing talent.
  • Strong visual eye with an understanding of framing, performance, pacing, and camera placement.
  • Experience working with video editors and providing clear, actionable creative feedback.
  • Ability to use performance data to inform creative decisions and iterate on winning concepts.
  • A highly creative self-starter who can work independently and collaborate across teams.
  • Curious and proactive about learning and using new AI and creative tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving creative environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Human Studies, or a related field preferred

The base salary range is $80,000-$100,000, plus bonus potential.
