Job Description

We are seeking a Senior SAP ABAP S/4HANA Consultant with strong experience in AMDP, CDS Views, OData, RAP, and SAP performance optimization. The consultant will support SAP implementation, migration, integration, enhancement, and production support initiatives.


Required Experience

- 10+ years of experience in SAP ABAP development, SAP ECC, and SAP S/4HANA.

  • Strong experience with ECC-to-S/4HANA migration and custom code remediation.
  • Hands-on experience with SPAU/SPDD, SUM upgrades, Suite on HANA compatibility, and S/4HANA data model changes.
  • Strong experience developing WRICEF objects, including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, and Forms.
  • Experience supporting FICO, MM, SD, PP, and Logistics modules.
  • Must have hands-on experience with:
    •  AMDP procedures and AMDP classes
    •  CDS Views and CDS annotations
    •  OData V2 and OData V4 services
    •  RAP and RESTful ABAP Programming Model
    •  HANA-optimized Open SQL
    •  SAP HANA performance optimization techniques
  • Experience developing AMDP methods using SQLScript for database-level processing and code pushdown.
  • Experience creating and optimizing Basic, Composite, and Consumption CDS Views.
  • Knowledge of managed and unmanaged RAP scenarios, including draft-enabled applications, validations, determinations, and actions.
  • Experience exposing CDS and RAP-based data through OData services.
  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization techniques.

Performance Optimization Experience

The candidate should have hands-on experience with the following performance optimization techniques:

  •  ABAP code pushdown using CDS Views, AMDP, and HANA-optimized Open SQL.
  •  SQL Trace analysis using ST05.
  •  ABAP Runtime Analysis using SAT or SE30.
  •  SQL Monitor analysis using SQLM.
  •  Efficient internal table processing and optimized database access.
  •  Avoiding nested database queries and unnecessary SELECT statements inside loops.
  •  Proper use of joins, filters, indexes, and key fields.
  •  Reducing data volume transferred between the application server and database.
  •  Analyzing expensive SQL statements and database execution plans.
  •  HANA PlanViz and SQL Console analysis.
  •  Performance tuning of CDS Views, AMDP procedures, reports, and interfaces.
  •  Parallel processing and optimized data retrieval where applicable.
  •  Memory and runtime optimization for high-volume data processing.
  •  Use of appropriate table types, field symbols, sorting, and binary search techniques.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and support SAP ABAP and S/4HANA solutions.

  •  Develop AMDP procedures, CDS Views, RAP applications, and OData services.
  •  Perform code pushdown and database-level optimization using SAP HANA.
  •  Analyze and resolve performance issues in ABAP programs, CDS Views, AMDP, and integrations.
  •  Support SAP migration, upgrade, and transformation projects.
  •  Develop WRICEF objects based on business requirements.
  •  Build integrations using OData, RFCs, BAPIs, and IDocs.
  •  Support BDC and LSMW-based data migration activities.
  •  Perform debugging, SQL Trace, Runtime Analysis, and root-cause analysis.
  •  Provide L2/L3 production support, UAT support, and go-live support.
  •  Prepare technical design documents and development specifications.
  •  Conduct unit testing, code reviews, and defect resolution.
  •  Collaborate with functional teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions.
  •  Mentor junior ABAP developers and ensure compliance with SAP coding standards.

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong communication and documentation skills.

  •  Experience working in Agile and enterprise SAP delivery environments.
