THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is proud to partner with a technology company that helps utilities modernize their distribution grids through smart grid data and analytics solutions to recruit for a Deployment Specialist (Propagation Modeling) based remotely in the United States, with a preference for candidates in Eastern or Central time zones. The client is seeking a Deployment Specialist to join their Customer Experience team, reporting to the Supervisor of Pre-deployment and Sales Support. This role serves as the primary technical link between the Customer Experience and Sales teams, supporting the deployment, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of customer systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across embedded hardware/software, RF and IP communication networks, databases, Linux back-end systems, web front-ends, and service interfaces
  • Upgrade and patch core software on customer systems
  • Configure and maintain billing exports
  • Use RF propagation software to generate RF network designs
  • Use GIS software to produce maps and supporting materials
  • Support the pre-sales team with RFPs using generated network designs and maps
  • Monitor and support the rollout of new products in the field
  • Review, prioritize, and escalate open support cases as needed
  • Collaborate on developing and improving technical documentation, knowledge base content, and internal processes
  • Perform occasional scripting tasks to support operations
  • Travel to customer sites as needed for support work or training
  • Participate in an after-hours support rotation, approximately two weeks per quarter

Qualifications

  • Diploma in information technology or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in a customer service or technical support role
  • Experience with Unix/Linux command line and shell scripting (primarily Bash)
  • Experience with GIS mapping software
  • Experience with RF propagation software (e.g., EDX Signal Pro)
  • Working knowledge of IP networking, including TCP/IP, FTP, SSH, and firewalls
  • Experience with virtual machine environments (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V)
  • Cloud hosting experience (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience developing, maintaining, or updating in-house automation tooling
  • Familiarity with support ticketing/issue tracking systems
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, debug, investigate, and clearly present findings
