What is a remote video game content creator?

A Remote Video Game Content Creator is someone who produces and shares video game-related content, such as gameplay videos, reviews, tutorials, or live streams, from a remote location—usually their home. They use platforms like Twitch, YouTube, or TikTok to reach audiences and often engage viewers through commentary and interactive sessions. This role can involve game capture, video editing, social media management, and community engagement. Many creators work independently, while others collaborate with gaming companies or brands for sponsorships and promotions.

We're looking for a pragmatic and business-minded Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. In this role, you will partner with teams across the organization to provide practical legal guidance, support commercial initiatives, and help manage legal risk in a fast-moving technology environment. You'll work on a broad range of matters including commercial contracting, intellectual property, and regulatory issues while helping the business move forward with confidence. Experience with emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and a strong understanding of internet law will be considered valuable assets.

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice to internal stakeholders on commercial, technology and intellectual property matters, including matters related to emerging technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, machine learning) and internet law.
  • Support product, commercial, and strategic initiatives by identifying legal risks and proposing practical solutions.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare concise guidance on applicable laws, regulations and emerging legal issues.
  • Assist with discovery and due diligence in connection with litigation, audits, financing, and transactional matters.
  • Support intellectual property enforcement activities, including cease-and-desist letters and domain name dispute processes (e.g., UDRP or URS).
  • Monitor and advise on legal developments in the fields of artificial intelligence, data privacy, and internet law, to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of contract templates, legal playbooks and internal processes.

What you'll need to be successful

Must haves

  • 3-5 years of legal experience, ideally in commercial, technology, or intellectual property law.
  • Member in good standing of the Quebec or Ontario Bar.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
  • Demonstrated ability to handle concurrent matters while meeting tight deadlines
  • Proven track record working with diverse departments and operations teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to coordinate with external counsel and manage legal matters across different time zones (North America/Europe).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice to haves

  • Experience supporting common law jurisdictions.
  • Prior in-house experience in a global technology or digital company.
