Job description

About TelaVets

At TelaVets, weโ€™re on a mission to make high-quality veterinary care more accessible, affordable, and supportive both for pets and for the veterinary professionals who care for them. We believe that veterinary care shouldnโ€™t be limited by clinic hours or commute distance.

With TelaVets, veterinarians connect with pet owners via virtual channels for real advice, valid prescriptions, and meaningful impact all from the comfort of home. Our platform provides tools like our in-house electronic medical records (EMR) system and Automatically transcribed SOAP notes so you can focus on patient care, not paperwork.

TelaVets has the stability and resources to support our doctors in delivering the highest standards of virtual veterinary medicine.

Role Summary

We are seeking experienced veterinarians to join our growing telemedicine team as independent contractors. This is a flexible, remote opportunity ideal for those who want to pick up additional work, explore virtual care, and help shape the future of veterinary care โ€” all while maintaining clinical autonomy.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Conduct virtual consultations with pet parents via video and asynchronous messaging
  • Review medical history, symptoms, and treatment concerns submitted through TelaVetsโ€™ digital platform
  • Establish a valid VCPR (Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship), when required, and determine whether telemedicine is appropriate for each case
  • Provide evidence-based treatment recommendations, including prescribing medications, when clinically appropriate
  • Communicate clearly, compassionately, and with care in every interaction

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Fully remote โ€” No commuting, no shifts in clinics, work from wherever
  • Flexible scheduling โ€” Set your own hours that fit your life
  • Vet-designed platform โ€” Built to support clinical focus, not burden you with admin tasks
  • Competitive compensation: $25โ€“$250 per hour based on experience, state licensure, and appointment volume

Youโ€™d Thrive in This Role If You Have:

  • Graduated from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or completed the equivalent requirements to practice in the U.S.
  • An active license
  • License in good standing, with no malpractice claims or disciplinary actions
  • A quiet, professional workspace and reliable internet sufficient for video consultations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative, compassionate approach to veterinary care
  • Comfort using telehealth tools and managing consults independently

What to Expect

  • This is a contractor (1099) role with no required set hours โ€” you choose your availability
  • Vets who excel tend to offer about 10-15 hours per week

Licensure Requirements

To prescribe medication, TelaVets veterinarians must be licensed to practice in one or more of the states where we are currently operating. Youโ€™ll be able to indicate your licensure status in the application.

If this sounds like a role youโ€™d love, and youโ€™re ready to help make telemedicine a powerful, accessible option in veterinary care โ€” weโ€™d love to talk.
