What is a Remote Veterinary Scribe job?

A Remote Veterinary Scribe is a professional who assists veterinarians by documenting medical records in real time during patient appointments. They listen to consultations via audio or video and enter important details such as symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions into the veterinary practice's electronic medical records (EMR) system. This role helps veterinarians focus more on patient care by reducing their administrative workload. Scribes must have a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and excellent typing skills. The position is performed remotely, typically requiring a reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.

What does a typical day look like for a Remote Veterinary Scribe?

As a Remote Veterinary Scribe, your day generally involves joining live virtual consultations or reviewing recorded appointments to document patient histories, exam findings, and treatment plans in real time. You will interact with veterinarians and sometimes veterinary technicians through secure platforms, clarifying details as needed to ensure accuracy. The role requires high focus and quick documentation to keep up with fast-paced clinical discussions, but also offers the flexibility of working remotely, usually with set or flexible shifts. Beyond data entry, your notes play a key role in helping veterinary teams streamline workflow and enhance patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Veterinary Scribe position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Veterinary Scribe, you need a solid understanding of veterinary medical terminology, excellent listening skills, and fast, accurate typing. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and proficiency with digital communication tools are often required, while some employers may prefer candidates with experience in medical scribing or relevant certifications. Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with veterinary teams set top candidates apart. These skills are crucial for ensuring accurate clinical documentation and supporting veterinarians in delivering efficient patient care remotely.

  • Board-certified specialists whom you can reach out to for expertise on any case.
  • Opportunities for growth into leadership positions, commensurate with experience. And that's just a few of them.

  • Support near and far. We have a highly-skilled remote team of nurses to lend support with client needs, triaging cases, and assisting with day-to-day tasks when things get busy in the clinic.
  • Direct communication with leadership and influence over policies. If you're thoughtful, we're listening - let's build a better vet clinic together.
  • We have your back - we don't tolerate poor behavior from clients.

We Offer
