This Audio/Video Technician position supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the area of Support Services. The mission-critical program provides comprehensive training, safety, standards, curriculum development, and technical modernization services to ensure national border security agents can operate safely and effectively.
When instructors lead a high-stakes tactical simulation or a national webinar, they cannot afford technical audio or video delays. As an AV Specialist, you configure the physical hardware, mixers, and routing that deliver flawless, real-time multimedia experiences.

You are the master behind the scenes who ensures that every live stream, presentation, and webinar runs flawlessly. You enjoy working with physical hardware and are deeply knowledgeable about audio mixers, signal routing, and camera configurations. Cool under pressure, you provide incredible technical support to event planners, instructors, and high-level leaders to deliver seamless multimedia experiences.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
  • Live Event Support: Set up, test, configure, and monitor AV equipment (microphones, soundboards, projectors, mixers, and cameras) for live and hybrid event.
  • System Integration: Lead the deployment, wiring, and physical integration of permanent AV systems in classrooms, offices, and conference space.
  • Troubleshoot & Maintain: Conduct preventative maintenance, firmware updates, and collaborate with hardware manufacturers (OEMs) to resolve equipment failures.
  • Manage Logistics: Keep a strict quarterly inventory of all AV assets, advising leadership on equipment upgrades.

What You Bring (Qualifications)
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in professional, enterprise, or live event AV environments.
  • Tech Knowledge: High proficiency with leading AV hardware ecosystems (e.g., Shure, QSC, Crestron).
  • Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to transport and install heavy speakers, equipment, and equipment racks.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background suitability check.
