POSITION PURPOSE
Directs and coordinates all clinical practices for field Registered Dietitians (RD's) to drive standardized care practices and provide clinical nutrition and wellness governance for assigned regional operations of the Trinity Health system-wide shared services Food & Nutrition Services (FANS) Program. Works with the Integrated Clinical Services (ICS) team to develop and standardize Clinical Nutrition practices and application across assigned THS region while overseeing efforts of Regional Health Ministry (RHM) dietitians to develop and standardize core policy pertaining to nutrition care and support at the local level. Coordinates clinical reviews with Regional Operations Managers to ensure appropriate utilization of product on patient menus as well as maintaining the nutrition and wellness goals of the region in all culinary applications. Participates in development and management of core clinical nutrition and wellness program standardization in collaboration with System Office operations, regional and site Managers for FANS, and RHMs. Works with all levels of senior leadership and management teams at RHMs, develops and implements quality clinical nutrition programs cost effectively with implementation processes that support Trinity Health and UEM goals, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures. Ensures patient care standards, cost targets and productivity improvement objectives are met, while cultivating service/product quality and customer satisfaction. Ensures the System Manager of THS Clinical Nutrition & Wellness is kept abreast of issues or problems impacting program efficiencies and effectiveness. Attracts, develops and trains talent to ensure program quality, sustainability, long-term growth, and development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Supports and endorses senior leadership decisions, goals, objectives, and strategies.
2. Works with the Integrated Clinical Services (ICS) team to develop and standardize Clinical Nutrition practices and application and wellness programs consistent with related education standards across the UEM.
3. Oversees the management of assigned regional clinical nutrition and wellness operations and ensures Trinity Hospitality Services program service support objectives are met.
4. Provides a work environment that fosters positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among colleagues across all functional areas. Provides consultative, nutrition, wellness, operational, and technical support to RHMs, managers, and System Office in support of the overall management of FANS programs. Collaboratively develops, implements and coordinates across the region:
• Standardization of policies and procedures related to FANS clinical nutrition and wellness expense management and operations.
• Standardization and implementation of core nutrition care practices (Clinical Nutrition Protocols and Standards for Patient Care, Diet Manual, Nutrition Screening and Assessment, TPN and Enteral Support Protocols, Nutrition and Diet Education, Food Formularies, Nutritional Supplement Formularies, Practices, Auditing tools, Competencies, etc.).
• Ensures assigned Clinical Nutrition care programs are regulatory compliant and menus meet nutritional requirements.
• Works with the Regional Operations Manager to define and manage regional productivity standards for Registered Dietitians and Clinical Staff.
• Provides direct supervision of Clinical Nutrition Coordinators or Leads at assigned sites.
5. Schedules site visits to meet with local Clinical Nutrition Coordinators or Leads and their teams, RHM senior leadership and select department leadership to identify and implement standardized clinical initiatives and to address issues/concerns; outlines and follows up on necessary corrective measures. Assists in resolution of patient care issues and provides updates to the System Manager of THS Clinical Nutrition & Wellness on regional operations.
6. Keeps the System Manager of THS Clinical Nutrition & Wellness informed of issues affecting clinical nutrition and related patient care program costs, service capabilities, effectiveness and efficiencies, as well as issues noted during RHM visits. Obtains final approval from System and Regional Manager(s) prior to implementing program changes to the field.
7. Identifies, recommends, and implements best practices and operational solutions to improve Clinical Nutrition service delivery in the region. Facilitates monthly face to face regional meetings with leaders to review initiatives, discuss strategies and promote a collaborative environment across the region.
8. Accountable for the implementation and execution of the ongoing efforts within the region to drive compliance within the Food & Nutrition/Procurement Programs to control supply expenses related to Clinical Nutrition. This program includes documented efforts in product standardization, product identification and product conversion across UEM.
9. Meets with leadership and support staff, as required, to review overall operations goals/ objectives, to address shortfalls and open issues, and to encourage open dialogue for suggested process improvements. Reviews subsequent FY goals/objectives and related strategic plans as defined by the senior leadership team (SLT); outlines expectations, accountabilities, and measurables used in determining success.
10. Supports and administers Program Quality Evaluations, Competency Assessments, and reviews Customer Satisfaction Survey scores for Hospitality Services. Prepares Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) where necessary to resolve customer satisfaction and address program quality deficiencies impacting patients' nutritional care.
11. Participates in interviews, hiring, training, and appraisal process for Clinical Nutrition staff at assigned sites. Reviews and approves expense reports and holds direct reports
accountable to Trinity Health and THS policies and procedures. Reviews hiring justifications to ensure financial cost saving merit. Ensures projected targets are achieved and reviews results with the System Manager of THS Clinical Nutrition & Wellness.
12. Ensures timely completion of annual performance appraisals; addresses colleague problems and issues related to their work or environment. Fosters the development of diverse teams at all levels as appropriate and outlines annual skills development, career growth opportunities, and improvement objectives with direct reports. Establishes and monitors progress on objectives and takes the necessary actions to resolve and prevent recurring issues. Provides the necessary leadership and oversight in cases where disciplinary action or termination is warranted.
13. Responsible for implementing and communicating diet order standardization and changes in EHR/Informatics/Work-Flows to clinical staff at assigned sites.
14. Manages multiple projects and tasks in a fast paced environment and possesses the ability to adapt to change. Demonstrates the ability to develop a project plan for major projects with milestones to determine schedule of deliverables to advance project outcomes.
15. Participates in Trinity Health FANS/EVS Advisory councils to develop best in class programs and identifying best practices; driving change to positively affect operational, financial, and service performance consistently across the UEM.
16. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. A comprehensive knowledge of Food & Nutrition/Hospitality management principles and practices, as normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or related field plus four (4) to seven (7) years of clinical nutrition management experience in a multi-hospital/site setting. Registered Dietitian (RD) by Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is required. Master's degree required, preferably in Clinical Nutrition, Public Health, Health Administration or Business.
2. Experience in contract management organizations or system self operated sites, field operations management, project management, and implementing best practices in a regionally integrated service support group, leading cross-functional work teams, with demonstrated results in increasing Patient Satisfaction scores within budgeted costs.
3. Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative, and team oriented culture.
4. Ability to develop methodologies for collecting and analyzing relevant data; to audit program processes; monitor quality; identify, problems and their root causes, and make recommendations for improvement.
5. Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, planning, delegation, coaching, communication (verbal, written and interpersonal), and computer (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills; with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to challenge conventional thinking at all levels of the organization.
6. A personal presence characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

Compensation:
Pay Range: $98240 - 147360 per year
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
