Larson Counseling Center is seeking a compassionate and experienced Integrated Care Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated team in Syracuse, New York. This position is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in your work schedule while ensuring that you remain connected to our supportive interdisciplinary team. Communication tools and telehealth platforms make it easy to collaborate effectively with colleagues and provide timely care for clients. Although the majority of your work will be done remotely, you will occasionally work in our Syracuse outpatient office for team meetings, training sessions, and client consultations.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients, evaluating both mental health and substance use concerns to identify co-occurring disorders.
• Collaborate with clients to develop customized treatment plans that integrate evidence-based practices and address their unique needs.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on fostering coping strategies, relapse prevention, and emotional resilience.
• Work alongside our multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and addiction specialists, to ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
• Utilize motivational interviewing techniques and other interventions to support clients in phase-appropriate recovery efforts.
• Educate clients and their families about the dynamics between mental health and substance use disorders, while underscoring the importance of treatment compliance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, services provided, and treatment adjustments in accordance with ethical and legal requirements.
• Participate in case reviews, interdisciplinary meetings, and ongoing professional development to refine your skills and knowledge in the treatment of co-occurring disorders.

In our practice, we serve a diverse population of individuals grappling with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Clients may present with a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, and addiction. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your role will involve understanding each individual’s unique circumstances and providing them with the essential tools needed for recovery and growth.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology; a Master's or doctoral degree is preferred.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
• In-depth familiarity with evidence-based therapies suited for co-occurring disorders, such as Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
• Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
• A comprehensive understanding of the nuances between mental health and substance use disorders.

• Experience in outpatient care settings or residential treatment programs.
• Previous work with populations experiencing both mental health and substance use challenges.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and telehealth platforms.
