Position Overview

Larson Counseling Center, a leading provider of mental health services in the Sacramento area, is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapist. This full-time remote position allows you the flexibility to work from home while you provide culturally competent mental health care in a community health clinic setting. This role is open to licensed professionals with a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.

Work Environment

This position primarily offers remote work flexibility while still being part of a collaborative and supportive team dedicated to mental health excellence. Your typical work week will be Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with potential flexibility in scheduling to meet patient needs. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough, culturally sensitive mental health assessments to identify the unique psychological needs of each patient.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices tailored to the patient’s background and preferences.
  • Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions focused on enhancing resilience and addressing mental health concerns.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide crisis intervention for patients experiencing acute mental health emergencies, ensuring immediate and effective support.
  • Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources to promote informed decision-making.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential documentation in line with legal and ethical standards within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Engage actively in team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and uphold a standard of culturally informed care.
  • Stay current on best practices in mental health therapy, emerging research, and significant cultural considerations relevant to your practice.

Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and the importance of cultural competence in therapeutic practices.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy, emphasizing culturally responsive methods that cater to diverse client needs.
  • Strong crisis management skills and the ability to remain composed during high-pressure situations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport and trust with patients from various backgrounds.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and related software to document care accurately and efficiently.
  • Commitment to adhere to professional ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality in all patient interactions.
  • A collaborative mindset, ready to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience working in multicultural settings or community health environments is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with specific therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or trauma-informed care.
  • Experience in conducting workshops or group therapy sessions focused on specific communities or demographics.
Compensation and Benefits
