Most remote user testing jobs are freelance or part-time, with testers getting paid per completed test.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote user testing, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote User Testing, you need strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and experience with usability testing, often supported by a background in UX/UI, HCI, or related fields. However, these challenges can be mitigated by proactive communication, thorough documentation of findings, and leveraging collaboration platforms to stay connected with teams.

Design layouts, navigation, and interactive elements that make application screens intuitive, visually engaging, and consistent.

Plan and conduct usability testing, gather feedback, and refine designs based on findings.

Partner and communicate effectively with product owners, application developers, subject matter experts, customers, and other stakeholders to align design concepts with business and technical requirements.

Develop clear functional specifications and design documentation to support application development, testing, training, and maintenance.

Learn and document the history, processes, training needs, and functional requirements of the products the company develops and supports.

Participate in quality and continuous-improvement initiatives, identify opportunities to strengthen design and development practices, and champion adherence to Tsunami's Product Development Workflow and applicable ORCA processes.

Required Qualifications

Professional experience in UX/UI design, application design, front-end application development, or a closely related field.

Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and functional design documentation.

Working knowledge of usability testing methods and the ability to incorporate user feedback into design improvements.

Familiarity with Jira and Agile software-development practices.

Experience supporting software testing, documentation, or training activities.

Strong written, verbal, organizational, and customer-communication skills.

Ability to learn complex products, technical processes, and customer workflows.

Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities with close attention to detail.

Must be a U.S. Person or otherwise authorized to access U.S. ITAR-controlled data.

Must be willing and able to successfully complete a background investigation and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting aerospace, defense, aviation, or another highly regulated industry.

Experience working with cross-functional software product teams and customer stakeholders.

Experience developing or maintaining reusable interface standards or design systems.

Work Location and Conditions

Position may be based in Glastonbury, Connecticut, or performed remotely, depending on business and project needs.

Standard full-time work schedule, with flexibility required to support customer and project commitments.
