MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our team in Washington, DC. The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to support the Sponsor's system accreditation efforts, to include creating Body of Evidence (BOE) documentation, responding to/implementing/documenting required controls, and completing required tasks/actions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead complex end-to-end deployments of frontier models in production alongside strategic customers while managing technical delivery from prototype to stable production.

  • Build full-stack systems using Python and JavaScript that deliver customer value, while maintaining system baselines and configuration management items.

  • Embed closely with customer teams to understand their needs, guide adoption, and document required security controls.

  • Scope technical work, sequence delivery, remove blockers early, and maintain a robust library of technical documentation.

  • Make critical trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality to adjust plans, protect delivery, and recommend process improvements.

  • Codify working patterns into tools, playbooks, or building blocks while conducting routine vulnerability scanning across networks.

  • Share field feedback to help internal teams improve model behavior and optimize how systems meet all requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in Information Systems Security or engineering and technical deployment.

  • Experience delivering complex systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and navigating complex data flows.

  • Experience writing and reviewing production-grade code across frontend and backend using Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks.

  • Experience building or deploying systems powered by LLMs or generative models and understanding how model behavior affects product experience.

  • Experience with Spec Driven Development, Harness Engineering and/ or Agentic Solutions. 

  • Knowledge of RAG, Hybrid RAG, MCP 

  • Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex information technology documentation across a large team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS, Azure or other Cloud/ AI Certifications

  • Experience with primary cyber risk, compliance automation tools, or governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks.

  • Knowledge of Palatir and/or Databrinks.

Clearance Requirements:

  • An active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $141,500.00-$236,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.  In addition, MANTECH invests in its employees beyond just compensation.  MANTECH's benefits offerings include, dependent upon position, Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, short-term and long-term Disability, Retirement and Savings, Learning and Development opportunities, wellness programs as well as other optional benefit elections.
