What is a remote Unity developer?

A Remote Unity Developer is a software engineer who specializes in developing applications, primarily games, using the Unity engine while working from a remote location. They are responsible for coding, debugging, and optimizing game mechanics, graphics, and performance. They collaborate with designers, artists, and other developers using online communication tools. This role may also involve integrating third-party APIs, testing, and deploying applications to various platforms. Remote Unity Developers must be proficient in Unity, C#, and game development principles while managing their workflow independently.

What does a remote Unity developer do?

Remote Unity Developers spend their days designing, coding, and refining interactive applications or games within the Unity engine, frequently collaborating with artists, designers, and other programmers through virtual communication tools. They are often responsible for implementing gameplay features, optimizing performance, debugging issues, and integrating assets such as 3D models, audio, and animations. Additionally, participation in regular stand-ups or sprint reviews is common, helping keep projects on track and aligning with the broader team's goals. Job description

Senior Software Engineer (VoIP)

We're building the tools that help local businesses connect, grow, and win.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who thinks like a product owner, someone who's scrappy, opinionated, and energized by taking something from zero to one, with expertise in building VoIP solutions. In this role, you will join a team of intelligent and dedicated engineers tasked with empowering local businesses by creating a modern phone service for collecting and converting leads for local businesses through AI agents. You care more about what ships than what stack you're shipping on, and you use AI tooling (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as a genuine force multiplier, not a novelty.

What you'll do

You'll own features end-to-end, from the first design conversation to production, on a platform thousands of businesses rely on every day. You'll influence architecture, collaborate closely with product and design, and help keep our VoIP systems reliable as we scale. You'll also invest in the people around you: sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and raising the team's collective ceiling.

What you should have

  • 6+ years building and shipping production systems
  • A track record of owning problems end-to-end, not just executing tickets, but defining and delivering.
  • Experience identifying and resolving bottlenecks and performance issues within our VoIP infrastructure
  • Experience with VoIP platforms like FreeSwitch, Kamailio, OpenSIPS, Asterisk
  • A hands-on, daily relationship with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) - you've figured out how to move meaningfully faster with them.

What we hope you have

  • Experience at a fast-moving startup or SaaS company.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems concepts: queues, event-driven architecture, horizontal scaling.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring, network diagnostics, and network analytics tools.
  • WebRTC experience: SDP negotiation, ICE/STUN/TURN, browser and mobile softphones
  • Proficient in packet capture utilities and identifying application issues at the packet level.
  • Experience in network, server, and application-status monitoring.
Why you'll love working here:
  • Podium is the best place to work to:
    • Join the leaders in AI agents
    • Unlock career-defining growth
    • Build with world-class talent
    • Make a real impact on local business
Benefits:
  • Open and transparent culture
  • Life insurance, long and short-term disability coverage
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Fertility Benefits
  • Generous vacation time, plus three 4-day summer holiday weekends
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401k Plan with company matching
  • Bi-annual swag drops with cool Podium gear and apparel
  • A stellar HQ (Utah) gym with local professional coaches and classes offered
  • Onsite HQ (Utah) child care center, subsidized for employees
