Remote Unigraphics Nx Programmer information

What is a remote Unigraphics NX programmer?

Remote Unigraphics NX Programmers are professionals who use Siemens NX (formerly known as Unigraphics) computer-aided design (CAD) software to create, modify, and analyze engineering designs, typically for manufacturing or product development. They work from remote locations, collaborating with engineering teams through digital communication tools to deliver 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings. These programmers are skilled in parametric modeling, drafting, and sometimes CNC programming, helping companies streamline their design-to-production workflow without being onsite.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Unigraphics NX programmer?

To thrive as a Remote Unigraphics NX Programmer, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering or a related field, along with expertise in CAD/CAM design and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in Siemens NX (Unigraphics) software, as well as familiarity with PLM systems and CNC programming, is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication abilities help you excel in a distributed team environment. These skills ensure accurate design, efficient production workflows, and seamless collaboration, which are critical for delivering high-quality engineering solutions from a remote setting.

What are some common challenges remote Unigraphics NX programmers face, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Unigraphics NX Programmers often encounter challenges such as coordinating design changes across distributed teams, maintaining version control, and ensuring seamless communication with engineers and project managers. Utilizing robust collaboration tools, adhering to standardized file naming conventions, and participating in regular virtual meetings can help mitigate these issues. Staying proactive about updates and clarifications will ensure project timelines and quality standards are met, even when working remotely.

What is the difference between Remote Unigraphics Nx Programmer vs Remote CAD/CAM Programmer?

Job description

Job Title: Autodesk Inventor Specialist

Job Type: Contractor
Location: Remote

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Autodesk Inventor Specialists to contribute their expertise to an innovative project at the intersection of mechanical engineering and emerging AI technology. In this role, you will help improve next-generation AI systems by creating, reviewing, and refining mechanical CAD models and technical documentation. No prior AI experience is required—your engineering and CAD expertise are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop fully parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor (or comparable CAD platforms) based on detailed design requirements.

  • Modify and update existing CAD models while maintaining parametric integrity and industry best practices.

  • Review and audit CAD models for dimensional accuracy, GD&T compliance, manufacturability, and design quality.

  • Create, interpret, and validate detailed engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 (or equivalent) GD&T standards.

  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles across manufacturing processes including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and casting.

  • Support AI model development by documenting design decisions, engineering rationale, model revisions, and audit findings.

  • Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams and provide clear, technical feedback to improve engineering datasets and AI-generated outputs.

Required Skills
  • Autodesk Inventor.

  • Parametric 3D CAD modeling.

  • GD&T (ASME Y14.5).

  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

  • Technical drawing interpretation.

  • Assembly-level mechanical design.

  • Reverse engineering (Scan-to-CAD, Point Cloud-to-Model).

  • Manufacturing process knowledge (Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, CNC Machining, Casting).

  • CAD model auditing.

  • CAD automation and scripting (Python, iLogic, VBA, NX Open).

  • Technical documentation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in parametric CAD modeling for edit-level tasks; 10+ years preferred for complex design and model creation.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, with experience in comparable CAD platforms such as FreeCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360 considered highly valuable.

  • Practical experience applying GD&T (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent) in production environments.

  • Proven Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience across multiple manufacturing processes, including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting.

  • Experience with reverse engineering workflows such as Scan-to-CAD and Point Cloud-to-Model reconstruction.

  • Ability to design and manage complex assemblies and mechanical systems.

  • Experience with CAD automation, scripting, or API development using Python, iLogic, VBA, NX Open, or similar technologies.
