Position Description:
We're looking for a NodeJS Engineer who is passionate about building scalable, high-quality backend systems and enjoys collaborating across teams to deliver great product experiences. You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining services primarily written in Node.js, with exposure to Ruby, PostgreSQL, and potentially hardware-integrated systems.
Our technology bridges financial payment providers, retail fuel pump technology, and customer experience by wrapping low-level standards-compliant integrations with powerful software abstractions on an ultra-modern software platform. Our platform services and applications are built using a broad swath of technologies (Typescript, NodeJS, Ruby, React, and others), interconnected via GraphQL and RabbitMQ, and run in AWS using Terraform, Helm and Kubernetes (via EKS).

What We're Looking For:
  • Strong background in Node.js/Typescript, PostgreSQL.

  • Excellent teamwork skills, coupled with an ownership mindset and the ability to work independently.

Why We Need You (Skill and Abilities)
  • Proven expertise in Node.js (Typescript) and database management (PostgreSQL).
  • 8+ years of backend development (with distributed systems and microservices) experience.
  • Proficiency with GraphQL, TypeORM, and Nest.js.
  • Hands on experience working with (and administering) K8S, message brokers (RMQ), APIs, especially proprietary hardware or device integrations is a plus.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills across software and hardware domains.
  • Ability to self-organize and manage tasks in a fast-paced, ticket-driven environment.
  • Ability to write clean code and effective automated tests to deliver high-quality system improvements
  • Ability to break down larger requirements into small, self-contained changes to the system
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Experience in the retail and/or fuel & convenience industries a plus
  • Ruby/Rails experience a big plus
  • Experience implementing or consuming GraphQL APIs a plus
