To thrive as a Remote Tribal Attorney, you need a law degree, active bar admission (often in relevant jurisdictions), and specialized knowledge of federal Indian law and tribal sovereignty. Familiarity with legal research databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis, as well as remote communication and document management systems, is typically required. What are Remote Tribal Attorneys?

Remote Tribal Attorneys are licensed legal professionals who provide legal services to tribal governments, organizations, or individuals from a remote location, rather than working onsite. They handle matters like tribal law, governance, treaties, sovereignty, and issues unique to Native American tribes. These attorneys may draft legal documents, give legal advice, represent clients in tribal courts, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal laws—all while working virtually. Remote positions allow tribes to access specialized legal expertise regardless of location, which is especially valuable for rural or geographically dispersed communities.
