Our client, a major bank in New York City, is looking for Senior Business Analyst – Finance Data & Architecture

6 months initial contract with possibility for extensions and option to hire.
100% Remote Position.

** Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in US   - NO H1 Visa support for this role

Rate: $65-70/h on W2, possible C2C as well.

Senior Business Analyst – Finance Data & Architecture
Overview

Our client seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join the Data Warehouse Analysis & Design team. This role bridges Finance, Business, and Technology teams to support enterprise data initiatives, data architecture, and financial reporting solutions. The ideal candidate combines deep accounting and banking domain expertise with strong data analysis and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business, data, and reporting requirements.

  • Translate requirements into data mappings, functional specifications, and design artifacts.

  • Analyze end-to-end financial data flows from source systems through subledgers and General Ledger platforms.

  • Create and maintain source-to-target mappings, data lineage, and logical data models.

  • Partner with Finance, Product Control, Treasury, Risk, Operations, and Technology teams.

  • Support data warehouse, reporting, governance, and modernization initiatives.

  • Perform data analysis, reconciliation, impact assessments, and root-cause investigations.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Business Analysis, Data Analysis, or Financial Systems experience in Banking.

  • Deep knowledge of:

    • General Ledger (GL)

    • Journal processing and accounting events

    • Subledger architectures

    • Balance Sheet and P&L reporting

    • Financial data flows and reconciliation processes

  • Strong understanding of banking products and operations, with deep expertise in one or more areas:

    • Commercial Lending

    • Syndicated Lending

    • Treasury

    • Repo / Securities Financing

    • Fixed Income

    • Derivatives

    • Deposits / Payments

  • Strong SQL skills and experience analyzing complex enterprise data models.

  • Experience documenting requirements, data mappings, and business processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP Finance / SAP General Ledger experience.

  • Snowflake experience.

  • Databricks experience.

  • Data warehouse and data lake architecture experience.

  • Data Mesh and data governance experience.

  • Familiarity with metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.

  • Experience working in Agile environments and with JIRA.

Ideal Candidate
A business analyst who can comfortably discuss accounting events with Finance teams, trace transactions through subledgers and the General Ledger, analyze complex banking data flows, and collaborate with architects and engineers to design scalable enterprise data solutions. Strong banking domain knowledge is more important than any specific technology platform.
