Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.

Description

The School of Nursing seeks a Research Fellow/Trainee to work on "Women's Health and Intersectionality Using Data Science and Health Information Technology.

A full-time postdoctoral traineeship on an NIH funded T32 training grant entitled "Women's Health and Intersectionality Using Data Science and Health Information Technology". The purpose of this T32 program is to prepare nurse scientists who have knowledge and skills to employ data science (DS) and/or health information technologies (HIT) in order to advance health research using innovative methodological approaches. This training will build on the strengths of the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing's currently funded research studies, faculty expertise, and supporting infrastructure. It will address health research questions with a methodological focus on DS and HIT applications. Trainees will develop knowledge and skills in interdisciplinary research methods, understand and apply DS and/or HIT methodologies, and develop and test interventions using these innovative approaches in health research. The program comprises: 1) specific courses related to DS and HIT methodologies; 2) electives to individualize training, develop an area of specialization, and facilitate trainees in interdisciplinary courses; 3) biweekly T32 seminars to foster trainees' integration of course content with other program experiences; 4) 15 hours a week of work on faculty research over several semesters; 5) at least one semester of individualized research practicum with center internships; and 6) participation in an interdisciplinary center on campus that relates to the trainee's research area. The program will engage 17 mentors and 6 interdisciplinary co-mentors. Over 10 research centers/institutes/departments have agreed to collaborate, making this a fully interdisciplinary training program focused on advancing methodological expertise in nursing science through innovative data science and health information technology approaches.

Trainees will be engaged in research activities, research training seminars, interdisciplinary research, preparation of grants, scientific manuscripts, and reports, and work closely with a mentor. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal is expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available.

Requirements: Applicants to the T32 postdoctoral program must be a citizen or non-citizen national of the United States and must submit official transcripts from previous and/or current institutions and 3 reference letters. Applications to the post-doctoral program should be either enrolled in or graduated from a research-focused doctoral program at the time of application.

Postdoctoral applicants must submit their curriculum vitae and a brief description of their research goals including the next logical step in their research and research training, goals for research development including alignment with the goals of the T32, and interest in a faculty mentor; three letters of reference; and transcripts from their doctoral degree program.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
