Remote Theater information

What are some unique challenges of collaborating with cast and crew in a remote theater production?

Working in remote theater often means relying on digital communication tools to rehearse, direct, and perform, which can make building ensemble chemistry and coordinating technical elements more challenging. Cast and crew need to be proactive in communication, flexible with schedules across time zones, and comfortable with technology for video conferencing, recording, and live streaming. Despite these challenges, remote theater professionals often find creative ways to connect and collaborate, developing strong problem-solving skills and adaptability that are highly valued in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Theater Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Theater Technician, you need expertise in stagecraft, audio/visual systems, and familiarity with live streaming or virtual production platforms, often supported by a technical theater degree or relevant certification. Proficiency with tools such as QLab, OBS Studio, lighting consoles, and digital soundboards is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills help technicians adapt to remote collaboration and troubleshoot live issues effectively. These skills ensure seamless virtual performances and a high-quality audience experience in a fast-evolving digital theater environment.

What is a Remote Theater job?

A Remote Theater job involves participating in or supporting theatrical productions from a remote location, rather than in a traditional theater setting. This can include roles such as acting in virtual performances, directing online productions, stage management, set or costume design, technical support for live-streamed events, and more. Remote Theater jobs have grown in popularity due to advances in technology and the need for virtual engagement. They offer flexibility and the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams across different locations. Remote Theater allows for creative expression and audience engagement without geographical barriers.

Job description

What is the job?

Every great film needs a visionary designer to shape the experience โ€” and at Regal, our Senior Product Designer brings the magic to life across mobile and digital screens.ย

Youโ€™ll craft seamless mobile B2C commerce experiences that connect the digital ease of discovery, purchase, loyalty, and in-theater moments.

From ticketing to concessions to loyalty, youโ€™ll design the moments that turn casual moviegoers into lifelong fans โ€” ensuring that every digital touchpoint feels as effortless and captivating as the big screen itself.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design for high-impact initiatives across mobile native apps and mobile web, with an initial focus on mobile commerce and member experiences.
  • Design and iterate end-to-end product flows for discovery, ticketing, checkout, concessions, and loyalty โ€” bridging digital and in-theater experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and research from concept through production.
  • Work within and contribute to Regalโ€™s Design Language System (DLS) in Figma, helping build scalable libraries, components, variables, and documentation.
  • Champion accessibility, simplicity, strong visual craft, and a unified design language that feels unmistakably Regal.
  • Use data and research to refine designs and deliver measurable impact.

Requirements:

  • 5โ€“8+ years of product design experience in B2C mobile e-commerce or other consumer commerce products.
  • A strong portfolio that showcases mobile-first product design, production-level UI craft, thoughtful IA/hierarchy, and measurable outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience designing end-to-end consumer shopping journeys such as product discovery, product detail/PDP, evaluation, selection/configuration, cart, checkout, ordering, account, loyalty/rewards, subscription, or purchase flows.
  • Experience with mobile commerce flows - not only payment, billing, or account administration systems.
  • Strong Figma experience, including working with or contributing to design systems, components, variables, and documentation.
  • Collaborative partner with product, engineering, and research teams.
  • Curious about connecting physical and digital experiences to enhance the moviegoing journey.
  • Able to work normal Eastern Time business hours in a remote US-based role.

You will be a great fit if our values resonate with you: We Create, We Perform, We Inspire.
