POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a remote position requiring support of our California restaurant operators. While this position is remote, the individual should be well versed with CA employment law or be able to quickly learn. The HR Operations Manager is responsible for aligning business objectives with HR support and formulating partnerships with Operations, Finance, IT, and Marketing to ensure the delivery of value-added service to Hourly and Management Team Members. The Manager maintains an effective level of business literacy and will perform mid to advanced level human resources work, carrying out responsibilities in functional areas such as: employee hiring, employee relations, training, safety, staffing, compliance, payroll, diversity and inclusion, and personnel research. This position can expect to support company initiatives nationwide and actively work across organizational boundaries to drive the overall success of Curry Up Now. Success in this role will require the ability to earn "trusted advisor" status with internal managers, influence cross-functional partnerships, and execute the HR strategies that foster organizational and people effectiveness. This is a one person department at this time. Individual must speak Spanish. Individual must have the ability to travel to the Bay Area 6x a year for as much as 1-2 weeks at a time.
RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Understand CurryUpNow's business strategy and business goals, identifies opportunity areas, and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company
  • Uses and interprets HR and business metrics to identify trends, problem solve, and influence change
  • Serves as a trusted coach in efforts related to change management, team effectiveness, and leadership development
  • Handles day-to-day human resources operations with oversight for employee relations issues, unemployment, worker's compensation, and adherence to established policies and procedures
  • Partners with restaurant management and the Executive Team on all human resources issues including company policy adherence and communications
  • Responds to employee relations issues/concerns; conducts investigations, makes recommendations for corrective action, and administers proper documentation
  • Advises management on coaching conversations, performance improvement plans, disciplinary action and/or termination process for both hourly and management staff
  • Researches local, state, and federal laws to ensure compliance, provides recommendations for any changes to company policies or procedures
  • Manages the workers compensation process by responding to inquiries, providing documentation, completing wage statements, and administering the return-to-work process
  • Facilitates the interactive process with team members to ensure compliance for accommodation requests
  • Recruits store level and management individuals
  • Payroll with Paylocity
  • Collects, analyzes, and distributes human resources data and reports including ad-hoc, turnover and vacancy, field bonus, and management reports
  • Conducts and documents exit interviews for restaurant management separations, looks for trends in exit interview data
  • Completes payroll and HRIS data entry duties (i.e., uploading documents, approving transfers/promotions, etc.) in a timely manner
  • Conducts in person and remote training sessions on various topics such as diversity and inclusion and harassment prevention
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues required
  • Minimum of 2 years of strategic partnership experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years of recruiting experience required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or a Master's degree in a related field of study required
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, diversity, performance management, staffing, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Proficiency with HRIS system required
  • Experience supporting a multi-unit operation in a remote capacity required, multi-state preferred
  • Strong knowledge and previous experience with CA employment law and employee relations required
  • Must be able to work CA hours 9a-6p PT
