Job description

ASSYST is seeking a highly skilled Test Automation Engineer (SDET) with strong experience in UI and API automation, along with Section 508 accessibility testing in Washington D.C. (Remote role)

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks while ensuring high-quality, accessible applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks from the ground up or enhance existing frameworks.
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts for: Web UI applications, RESTful APIs.
  • Perform accessibility testing (Section 508 / WCAG) using both automated tools and manual techniques.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA team members in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and ensure proper defect tracking and resolution.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).
  • Support regression, integration, and system testing efforts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software testing with a strong focus on test automation.
  • Strong programming experience in Java.

Hands-on experience with:

  • Selenium WebDriver (UI automation).
  • REST Assured / Postman (API automation).

Experience with test frameworks such as:

  • TestNG / JUnit / Cucumber (BDD).

Solid Understanding of:

  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
  • Test design patterns (Page Object Model, etc.).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps).
  • Proficiency with Git for version control.
  • Strong SQL skills for backend/data validation.
