They play a crucial role in identifying abnormal heart patterns and alerting medical staff to potential emergencies. Working remotely allows these techs to support hospitals and clinics by providing continuous, real-time monitoring of patients, often from a centralized or off-site location. Their expertise helps ensure patient safety and timely interventions, especially for those with cardiac conditions.

What are some common challenges faced by remote telemetry techs, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Telemetry Techs often encounter challenges like managing multiple patient data streams simultaneously and quickly identifying abnormal readings from a distance. Effective communication with on-site clinical teams is also crucial, as techs must relay urgent information promptly and accurately. To address these challenges, it is important to stay organized, regularly update monitoring protocols, and participate in ongoing training to stay current with technological advancements. Building strong relationships with hospital staff can further enhance collaboration and patient care.

Job description

About Shift5

Shift5 is building the observability platform for onboard operational technology (OT). We deliver cybersecurity, predictive maintenance, and compliance capabilities that enable defense and commercial fleets to operate with greater readiness, resilience, and mission assurance.

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our growing Product Engineering team. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to define what Shift5 builds and why to solve complex problems through our data pipeline, integration, and SDK products. You will report to our Head of Product, operating in a collaborative environment with engineers, program managers, and forward-deployed teams to conceive, implement, and drive adoption of major features. You'll be a key driver of the Shift5 development process and an owner of high-impact products that literally save lives.

What You'll Do
  • Product Strategy & Vision: Define what Shift5 will build and why, developing product strategies, roadmaps, and delivery timelines for on-vehicle and off-vehicle data pipelines, APIs, and SDKs to steer engineering investments.
  • Feature Ownership & Execution: Own the on-time, on-budget shipping of product value. Draft clear, complete, and concise problem statements and collaborate closely with engineers to design and execute solutions.

  • Cross-Functional Signal Synthesis: Gather signal from across forward-deployed teams, synthesizing insights into product direction, expansion, and continuous feature improvement.

  • Developer & Field Collaboration: Interface directly with Field Engineers and 3rd-party developers to iterate on data pipeline, API, and SDK designs, occasionally traveling to customer sites (estimated 3-4 times per year) for integration support.

  • Product Demos & Value Delivery: Build and present product demos to both internal and external stakeholders to showcase how product features drive concrete operational outcomes.

  • Documentation & Direct Product Use: Write and maintain comprehensive product documentation informed by regular, hands-on use of your portfolio of products.

What Success Looks Like
  • High-Impact Delivery: You reliably ship high-impact, value-driven data pipeline and integration products on time and on budget that empower customers to run smarter, safer fleets.
  • End-to-End Ownership: You confidently steer product lifecycles from scratch, from gathering signal and drafting problem statements to design, rollout, and direct product evaluation.

  • Collaborative Impact: You partner effectively across engineering, program management, and forward-deployed teams, acting as a trusted product leader and strategic guide.

  • Adaptability: You efficiently multitask and accommodate changing priorities on demand to meet the dynamic needs of a scaling company in a fast-paced environment.

What We're Looking ForRequired:
  • Product Experience: 3+ years of product management experience building technical products tailored for engineer users.

  • Technical Background: 3+ years of data integration engineering experience utilizing a major programming language (Python, GoLang, Rust, Java).

  • 0-to-1 Product Building: Proven experience building data integration products from scratch, including requirements gathering, design, planning, and implementation.

  • Technical Foundations: Deep understanding of data modeling, API design, and writing clear technical documentation.

  • Communication & Mindset: Excellent written and verbal communication skills paired with an outcome-focused ownership mentality.

  • Location Requirements: Ability to work at our Rosslyn, Virginia HQ at least 3 days per week, with occasional travel to customer sites (estimated 3-4 times per year).

Preferred:
  • Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. citizenship and an active US Government TS clearance (or the ability to obtain one).

  • Defense & Secure Environments: Experience working in secure environments within the defense industry.

  • Specialized OT & Edge Experience: Experience with vehicle telemetry, time-series data, firmware development, or deploying data pipelines at the edge and in the cloud.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $140,000 - $180,000

  • Bonus program and equity in a fast-growing startup

  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families

  • Health Savings Account with annual employer contributions

  • Employer-paid Life and Disability Insurance

  • Uncapped paid time off policy

  • Flexible work & remote work policy

  • Tax-deferred public transit benefits with Metro SmartBenefits (DC/MD/VA)

We are committed to building an inclusive culture of belonging that embraces the diversity of our people and represents the communities in which we work and the customers we serve. We know the happiest and highest performing teams include people with diverse perspectives and ways of solving problems. We strive to attract and retain talent from all backgrounds and create workplaces where everyone feels empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to work.
