Job description

The CPA Dude is a fast growing tax firm who is looking for an Lead Advisor who is proactive, super organized, flexible, and can adapt to whatever is thrown at them. This role will support the Tax Advisors through various ad hoc tasks. Speedy responses, follow ups, and the ability to learn is key to this role.

We may have a fun and casual firm name; however, most of our clients are complex and have well beyond a W2. The company’s Mission is to be the ultimate tax advisor and partner to our client. If the issue is tax - they come to us and we help. We build relationships that last a lifetime.

Our clients are a mix of real estate professionals/investors, business owners, and high earning W2 and 1099 contract workers who heavily benefit from tax planning and structuring. It will be important to know and understand the various tax planning we perform, how they apply to different clients, as well as how the tax planning shows up on the tax return.

Salary - $75k base with on target earnings of $110k for year and $140k+ in year 2 and after
- This is a retention based role - the more clients you retain the more you will earn

AVAILABILITY

8-6 PM for any US time zone (preference for PST but flexible), must be flexible and able to work additional hours on weeknights and weekends. In addition, there will be peak busy season hours.

SOFTWARE WE USE

  • Quickbook for bookkeeping

  • Tax Dome for client management and Messaging

  • G-suite for all other items (we do not use any Microsoft products)

  • Must be comfortable with AI softwares

Experience with the above software is not required; however, the ability to learn them is required. Training will be provided for your support.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESULTS

This role is somewhat of a hybrid role between a senior preparer and an intermediate level tax strategist. We understand such roles are uncommon - most focus on preparation or planning; however, we are willing to put in the training to make sure you have the knowledge and support to succeed.

This role will be the main liaison between the tax advisory and compliance teams.

Communication Skills & Organization

  • Lead strategy calls and document the items discussed

    • Draft up to-do’s after the call

  • Provide the clients tax strategy implementation templates

    • Provide step-by-step instructions and guidance

  • Respond to client tax planning questions in a timely manner - ideally same day

    • 24 business hours response time for acknowledgement

    • 3 days or less firm responses

  • Research Skills - we live in a world powered by internet and AI, must have the ability to research items on their own before reaching out for help

  • Chase clients and make sure they understand and implement the strategies discussed

    • Send looms (recorded videos) to help guide the client

  • Schedule calls with client to make sure they are getting the number of calls needed

Technical Tax Skills & Knowledge

  • Have a basic understanding of tax preparation and tax returns

    • What returns/forms may need to filed

  • Understand the filing scope of the client and what docs may be relevant for a tax return

  • Review entity structures for tax compliance and tax planning

  • Learn the tax strategies offered to clients in their respective Tax Plan

    • Understand the step-by-step implementation for each strategy and be prepared to answer questions and lead clients on these strategies

  • Understand Cost Segregation studies and own the process

    • Get estimates based on data needed from the client

    • Act as the intermediary between us and our cost segregation partners

Systems and Process Skills

  • Lead the process to set up Locators in Proconnect for new clients

    • Lead the assignments and reviews of tax projections in the software based on i) actual docs provided by client, ii) hypothetical planning scenarios, and iii) and/or

    • Run quarterly tax estimates or extension calculations.

    • Analyze the difference between potential planning scenarios

  • Have a basic understanding of bookkeeping on Quickbooks

    • Analyze a client’s P&L/BS for clarity and accuracy
