The DOJ, Office of Crime Victim Services (OCVS) houses resources and programs for crime victims, family and friends, as well as professionals in the victim services field. OCVS manages a toll-free line that connects victims to these programs, including the Crime Victim Compensation program, the Victim Resource Center, Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program, and Victim Appellate Notification Services. OCVS also manages and administers the federal grant programs and state funding streams for victim service agencies and county Victim/Witness programs throughout Wisconsin and coordinates technical assistance trainings for a broad range of service providers and stakeholders.
Position Summary
OCVS is recruiting a highly motivated and skilled part-time Children's Justice Act Support Specialist (Community Services Technician-Senior .50 FTE) to join our Direct Victim Services & Training Team.
This position will provide complex administrative and professional support for the operations of the Children's Justice Act training and grant program administration and will perform duties aligned with the goals of the Task Force on Children in Need (TFCHIN). This includes providing support for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the statewide Wisconsin Forensic Interviewing Guidelines trainings and other Children's Justice Act trainings while also providing support to the TFCHIN.

Salary Information
The Children's Justice Act Support Specialist (Community Services Technician-Senior .50 FTE) position is in pay schedule 07 and pay range 04 . The starting pay for this part-time position will be between $31.92 and $34.92/hour, depending upon experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The annual paid leave for this .50 FTE position may be pro-rated and pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Job Details
This position is headquartered at the Risser Justice Center located at 17 West Main Street in the award-winning city of Madison . This position may be eligible to work a fully remote or hybrid work schedule following an initial training period (typically 3 months), including reporting on multiple consecutive workdays to the assigned headquarters as needed. If interested in remote work, this can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement. High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants must have education, training, and/or professional work experience in the following:
  • Providing administrative support to a team or task force (e.g., preparing correspondence, compiling materials, coordinating meetings and/or training logistics, maintaining a tracking system, etc.) .
  • Performing data entry including tracking and verifying information (e.g., registering attendees, maintaining rosters, reconciling invoices, etc.).
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with external audiences as a liaison (e.g., communicating information to stakeholders, law enforcement, task force members, training attendees, etc.).
  • Utilizing an advanced virtual meeting and/or training platform (i.e., Cvent, Events Air, Whova, Eventbrite, etc.).
  • Utilizing software programs to create, edit, and share information such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will also have a combination of education, training, and/or professional work experience in the following:
  • Providing administrative support to grant programs (e.g., review/edit applications, monitor and audit awards, database entry, process payments, etc.) .
  • Referencing or interpreting state statutes, policies/procedures to comply with open meetings laws, public records requests, and/or record retention requirements.
  • Working with the criminal or juvenile justice system and/or child welfare system.
  • Reviewing and/or assessing print and/or digital documents or resources for accessibility.
