Position Overview

Evergreen Diagnostic and Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Geriatric Mental Health Therapist to support our mission in enhancing the mental well-being of the elderly population. This role will involve working collaboratively in a remote setting with a passionate team of mental health professionals, focusing specifically on the unique psychiatric needs of older adults.

About the Organization

Located in Port Chester, New York, Evergreen Diagnostic and Counseling Center specializes in geriatric psychiatry. Our practice is committed to providing exceptional mental health care tailored to the elderly. We utilize evidence-based practices to address a range of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, cognitive impairment related to dementia, and various adjustment disorders typical in geriatric patients.

Work Environment

This full-time position allows for a remote work environment, offering flexibility while still engaging with our outpatient office culture. Our collaborative atmosphere encourages open communication among team members, ensuring that you can effectively coordinate care with geriatric psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals. Typical working hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts required to accommodate patients' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments that are sensitive to the particular health challenges faced by older adults, including their cognitive and emotional needs.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment plans that consider various factors such as cognitive health, existing physical conditions, and social environments.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities to deliver effective individual and family therapy sessions targeting geriatric psychiatric conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with geriatric psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team members to provide holistic and integrated care.
  • Provide crisis intervention services when necessary, ensuring immediate support for elderly patients during mental health emergencies.
  • Educate patients and their families on mental health issues, available treatments, and community resources, ensuring they have a comprehensive support system.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in compliance with both legal and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and case consultations to discuss patient progress and share insights for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current on advancements in geriatric psychiatry to bring innovative practices into your therapeutic interventions.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily focus on an elderly patient population facing a myriad of mental health challenges. Our patients often deal with age-related psychiatric conditions, necessitating a therapist who is not only knowledgeable in the field but also possesses a deep empathy and understanding of the complexities associated with aging. This role is critical in improving their quality of life through specialized therapeutic approaches.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
  • Strong understanding of geriatric mental health disorders along with proficiency in evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish trust and rapport with elderly patients and their families.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer applications.
  • A collaborative spirit and a willingness to engage actively with a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
  • At least two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting, particularly working with elderly clients.
  • A record of providing individual and family therapy to older adults, with a focus on addressing unique needs caused by aging.
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies tailored for the geriatric population.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers an attractive salary range of USD 115,000 to 130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, we provide a robust benefits package to support the well-being of our employees, which includes:

  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer contributions to support your future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay to ensure work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage for peace of mind.
  • Opportunities for continuing education and support for professional development, reflecting our commitment to your growth.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment that fosters teamwork.
Career Growth Opportunities

As a valued member of the Evergreen Diagnostic and Counseling Center team, you will have numerous opportunities for professional development. We encourage and facilitate ongoing education, and you will be positioned to advance your career through leadership roles or specialization in geriatric mental health fields, aligning with your career aspirations.
