What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Tanker Owner Operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Tanker Owner Operator, you need a valid CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements, solid driving experience, and a strong understanding of safety regulations. Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation, and maintenance management systems is typically required. Strong self-management, time management, and communication skills help you excel in coordinating with dispatchers and clients remotely. These professionals contract with shipping companies or brokers to haul loads and are responsible for vehicle maintenance, scheduling, regulatory compliance, and customer service. The 'remote' aspect means much of their administrative work, dispatching, and communication are handled online or by phone, giving them flexibility in managing their business from various locations.
