Job description

Sr. Structural Design Engineer
Location: Onsite or Remote (US Only) | Salary: $105,000 to $135,000 + Benefits | Employment Type: Full-Time
WHO WE ARE
Altitude Aerospace USA delivers engineering and certification solutions for commercial and VIP aircraft programs worldwide. With FAA DER, EASA DOA, and TCCA DAO approvals, we support customers from concept through certification and in-service. Our team across the US, Canada, and France works on programs for major OEMs, completion centers, and airlines globally. We offer 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, SIMPLE IRA retirement plan, paid vacation and PTO, and 8 paid holidays.
THE ROLE
Design and develop aircraft structural systems from concept through release on an active Special Missions program. You will own 3D design, systems integration, and weight and balance considerations for custom aircraft systems using Siemens NX. This role requires a self-directed engineer who can take a design from requirements to a releasable package with minimal oversight.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design and Develop
  • Design structural aircraft systems and components in Siemens NX from concept through production release.
  • Develop and manage 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings to airworthiness standards.
  • Perform weight and balance studies to support component sizing and system layout decisions.
  • Research and select components and materials based on structural performance, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Design metallic and composite structural elements including tanks, mounting structures, and integrated systems.
Integrate and Coordinate
  • Coordinate with lead engineers, stress, certification, and systems teams to ensure design intent is met.
  • Manage configuration and release of parts and assemblies through PLM tools (Teamcenter or equivalent).
  • Prepare engineering documentation and design presentations for internal and client reviews.
  • Work cross-functionally with all required engineering disciplines to support program milestones.
Impact: Your designs go directly onto aircraft. You will own meaningful work packages on a Special Missions program and have direct visibility into how your engineering decisions affect the final product.
WHAT YOU BRING
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of structural design experience on aerospace programs.
  • Expert-level Siemens NX user with strong 3D modeling and assembly design experience.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Experience designing structural aircraft systems or installations from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with PLM tools such as Teamcenter or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a design package with minimal oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred
  • Experience designing aircraft fluid systems, tanks, or containment structures.
  • Weight and balance analysis experience.
  • Exposure to Special Missions, military aircraft, or modification programs.
  • Composite structural design background.
  • Familiarity with FAA or EASA certification requirements for structural modifications.

WHY ALTITUDE
  • Real Programs: Work on active Special Missions aircraft programs where your designs go on real aircraft.
  • Ownership: Take meaningful design packages from concept to release with direct program visibility.
  • Variety: Exposure to a wide range of aircraft platforms and program types across a global engineering team.
  • Growth: Small enough to own significant work, large enough for complex international program exposure.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • This position may be performed onsite or remotely within the United States only.
  • Background check and drug screen may be required.
  • ITAR eligibility required (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident status).

Altitude Aerospace USA is an equal opportunity employer.
