Job description

Position Overview

Home and Community Mental Care, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team. This full-time position offers the flexibility of remote work while making a significant impact in the lives of children and families. Our LMFTs are essential in providing therapeutic interventions designed to support youth with developmental disabilities and related challenges.

About the Organization

Home and Community Mental Care, Inc. is a forward-thinking community health clinic located in Elgin, Illinois. Our mission is to deliver comprehensive mental health services that cater to the diverse needs of families in our community. We focus on integrating mental health treatment with community support, ensuring that every child receives the care they deserve. Our commitment extends to offering specialized services for children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, acknowledging that every child is unique and every family deserves tailored support.

Work Environment

As a fully remote position, you will enjoy the flexibility to conduct therapy sessions from the comfort of your own space, while also engaging with clients in their homes, as needed. This dynamic work environment allows you to maintain a healthy work-life balance while contributing to a fulfilling mission of aiding children and families. Regular collaborative meetings with our Child Family Treatment Team will ensure that you are supported and connected with colleagues who are equally invested in the holistic wellbeing of families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individualized therapy sessions, either in-home or via teletherapy, adapting to the specific needs and conditions of each client.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic practices to reduce high-risk behaviors, such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) or aggression, by teaching clients valuable skills including anger management and healthy coping strategies.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions that foster collaboration and community among participants, promoting social skills and peer interactions.
  • Work closely with caregivers to enhance decision-making capabilities, aiding in the management of in-home behavioral challenges.
  • Document treatment progress meticulously, submitting all relevant materials, including intake assessments and progress notes, within the established timelines.
  • Attend regular interdisciplinary team meetings to share insights and coordinate care with other professionals and specialists.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on working with children aged 3 to 20 who experience developmental and intellectual disabilities. This role requires a practical understanding of the unique challenges these children face and the ability to adapt therapeutic approaches accordingly. Working collaboratively with caregivers is key, as they play an essential role in reinforcing strategies learned during therapy sessions.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related field is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credential.
  • Availability for 5-10 hours per week, focusing on after-school hours (4-7 PM); weekend availability is a plus.
  • Legally capable of driving and possessing a registered vehicle is essential for conducting home visits.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is required prior to employment.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience in a mental health setting is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with youth who have intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) is strongly recommended.
  • Previous training or experience in providing positive behavior support techniques.
  • Fluency in bilingual Spanish or Portuguese is a plus, enhancing communication with diverse client families.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this role ranges from USD 80,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our competitive compensation package not only reflects our commitment to attracting top talent but also includes:

  • A supportive and dynamic work environment that values your contributions.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and ongoing job training to enhance your skills.
  • Group health coverage, providing comprehensive health benefits for you and your family.
  • Generous annual paid time off to ensure you can recharge and maintain work-life balance.
  • Accessible short-term and long-term disability plans to ensure financial security.
  • A 401K retirement plan to support your future planning.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Home and Community Mental Care, Inc., we are committed to your career development. Our organization encourages continuous learning through structured training programs, and we actively support employees seeking to pursue further certifications or specialty training. By joining our team, you position yourself for advancement opportunities within our growing organization.
