Position Summary:
The Business Systems Analyst plays a critical business and technical bridge role across multiple business functions and Information Technology to ensure our business solutions are implemented, administrated, and scaled efficiency to align with evolving business processes. This role concentrates on how our systems are implemented by translating business requirements and complex processes/workflows into technical specifications to ensure software, databases, and systems support processes throughout the business value chain.
The role will be responsible for maintaining and improving end-user experiences across several modern solutions. These solutions are deployed, and will be modernized, across insurance processes for distribution, customer relationship management, agent/producer onboarding, commissions, compliance, policy administrations, claims, billing, etc, and general business automation strategies and solutions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a drive to learn and be passionate about new technologies and leveraging them to add value.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a deep understanding of insurance industry business processes across Sales, Distribution, Agency Management, Policy and Claims lifecycle, and Compliance and researches existing or emerging requirements & related best practices to assist and develop recommendations for changes/enhancements within system
  • Help lead the design, build, and administration of complex business processes within modern applications
  • Works with business partners/analysts to understand needs and helps translate into functional technical specifications and process flows for development teams
  • Evaluate current business processes to propose areas for future improvements ensuring modern solutions will meet business needs
  • Acts as business SME and technical lead on developing industry standard integrations into agency management system
  • Build and maintain business systems workflows, rules logic, and decision modeling across new applications
  • Build and maintain operational/transactional reports, dashboards, and list views supporting Distribution, Service, Agency Services, and Operations.
  • Sales and Service administration: cases, queues, assignment rules, email-to-case, escalation, and service console.
  • Responsible for Agency Services, Producer on-boarding, financial services, and the platform solutions used to facilitate and manage them
  • In partnership with business and technology teams focus on data management, quality, completeness, and governance
  • Tier 1 and 2 user support, new-hire onboarding, end-user training, and platform documentation
  • System administration and support of the Distribution, Program, and Regional territory and Agency management models and reporting
  • Develops a strong understanding of current business processes and systems needs to recommend and guide the implementation of modern enterprise integrated systems
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making within the systems
  • Develops informative, coherent, and usable project documents (project artifacts) for multiple stakeholders covering functional and non-functional business requirements used for testing
  • Administer and maintain business systems and related modules, including configuration, user setup, role-based access, and ongoing system support
  • Applies depth of domain & functional expertise across the technical portfolio to drive the expected business value.
  • Supports various project teams across the project lifecycle to ensure development is aligned with the business requirements.
  • Recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business user administration, issue triage, troubleshooting, and resolution as it relates to the system
  • Manage user accounts, password resets, access changes, terminations, and periodic access reviews across operational business systems
  • Help coordinate and support system testing, including release testing, user acceptance testing, and validation of updates or changes.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve workflows, procedures, and documentation related to business systems administration and business processes.
  • Partner with business users to identify inefficiencies, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities between legacy and modern systems
  • Perform root cause analysis on repeat issues and recommend practical solutions to reduce recurring support needs.
  • Design, generate, and support standard and ad-hoc operational reports as needed
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders regarding support issues, upgrades, enhancements, and system changes managed by third parties
  • Maintain documentation for administrative procedures, support processes, historical issues and resolutions, and user-facing guidance.
  • Support related business systems and interfaces, as needed, where they connect to business operations

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, IT, or equivalent experience within P&C insurance or financial services industry
  • At least 10+ years' experience in similar industry role interfacing between IT and Business, Distribution, and /Sales Operations with a systems and process focus
  • Strong understanding of Sales, Distribution, Agency Management, Customer Support, Commissions, producer on-boarding system administration, user security, configuration, troubleshooting, and support
  • In-depth understanding of business system analyst, project management, and system implementation methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to appropriately handle sensitive data and maintain confidentiality
