Join a fast-paced team of engineers creating cutting edge software products for the Joint Operations and medical communities (Air Force, Army, and Navy). You will work alongside BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) and US Air Force developers and engineers to provide technologies that increase the capabilities of our nation's military. Our team's goal is to create user driven applications that optimize human-machine performance in the next generation of Air Force systems. We accomplish this by exploiting state of the art hardware and software practices while maintaining a tight feedback loop with both Special Warfare and the Defense Health Agency medical personnel we support. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions.   • We're looking for a senior iOS design engineer who can turn complex user workflows into thoughtful, polished, native iOS and iPadOS experiences. This role sits at the intersection of product design and front-end iOS development. You should be comfortable working from early ideas, sketches, and prototypes through production-quality user interfaces in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit.
  • Design and build native iOS and iPadOS user experiences for complex workflows.
  • Work with users, product owners, designers, and engineers to understand problems and shape intuitive solutions.
  • Prototype new ideas to support feature definition, workflow validation, and product discovery.
  • Create sketches, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity comps, and interaction models.
  • Translate design concepts into polished front-end code using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit.
  • Refine visual details, interaction behavior, accessibility, layout, motion, and responsiveness.
  • Apply Apple Human Interface Guidelines, platform conventions, and native interaction patterns.
  • Break down large or ambiguous feature ideas into clear, user-centered interface solutions.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Remote Work Considered: This position combines in-person collaboration and customer engagement with independent work. Based on multiple factors, remote work may be considered and is at the discretion of the business. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level should be considered.
  • Experience with design tools and platforms including Figma (required).
  • Experience designing and building user interfaces with Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit.
  • Ability to communicate ideas through sketches, prototypes, high-fidelity comps, and presentations.
  • Excellent product design instincts and attention to detail in layout, interaction, typography, and usability.
  • Experience designing web-based, mobile, and desktop applications.
  • Experience supporting user-centric design principles and user evaluation.
  • Experience updating and enhancing existing designs based on user feedback or evolving product features.
  • Experience creating and maintaining UX documentation, including user flows, sitemaps, annotated wireframes, and design requirements to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to include users.
  • Ability to articulate user experience concepts and decisions to cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience translating Figma designs into production-ready code.
  • Excellent coding skills and expertise in front-end engineering.
  • Proficiency in front-end design and development.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Experience with end-to-end product design, from concept to delivery.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Familiarity with wellness, healthcare, medical, or human performance concepts.
  • Examples of previous native iOS or iPadOS work samples are encouraged.
