Remote Supply Chain Optimization information

What is remote supply chain optimization?

Remote supply chain optimization involves using digital tools and data analytics to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain processes, all while working from a location outside of a traditional office or warehouse. Professionals in this field analyze supply chain data, forecast demand, manage inventory, and coordinate with vendors and logistics partners using cloud-based software and communication platforms. The goal is to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction without being physically present on-site. Remote work allows for flexibility and often leverages advanced technology, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to make data-driven decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote supply chain optimization?

To thrive in Remote Supply Chain Optimization, you need strong analytical abilities, a background in logistics or supply chain management, and typically a relevant degree or certification (such as APICS CPIM or CSCP). Familiarity with supply chain management software (like SAP, Oracle, or Kinaxis), data analytics tools, and remote collaboration platforms is essential. Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication enable professionals to collaborate across teams and drive improvements from a distance. These skills ensure efficient, data-driven decision-making and seamless coordination that are critical for optimizing global supply chains remotely.

How does working remotely in supply chain optimization impact collaboration with cross-functional teams?

Remote supply chain optimization professionals regularly collaborate with teams such as procurement, logistics, IT, and finance. While remote work offers flexibility, it also requires strong communication skills and the use of digital tools to coordinate across time zones and locations. Regular virtual meetings, shared dashboards, and cloud-based platforms are commonly used to keep everyone aligned on goals and progress. Building strong relationships and maintaining proactive communication are key to overcoming the challenges of not sharing a physical workspace.

What is the difference between Remote Supply Chain Optimization vs Remote Logistics Coordinator?

Job description

The Manager, SCO Solutions serves as the primary interface between Business Units, Mode Teams, and Global SCO Operations to identify, design, and deploy value-creating logistics solutions. This role improves the speed, reliability, visibility, and cost-effectiveness of the global logistics network by translating strategic and operational requirements into scalable system capabilities, advanced analytics, and standardized operating solutions across the enterprise.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Strategic Solution Management

  • Lead cross-functional logistics solution initiatives across IT, Mode Teams, Business Units, and Operations, ensuring delivery of complex programs on time, within scope, and aligned with enterprise strategy.

  • Design and deploy system-enabled solutions for strategic logistics initiatives, including network consolidations, regional expansions, and new capability enablement within Oracle Transportation Management (OTM).

  • Evaluate third-party application readiness and integration feasibility; conduct functional gap analyses across tools supporting parcel, risk visibility, rating, and execution platforms.

  • Anticipate and shape future solution requirements based on global supply chain strategy, geopolitical risk exposure, and evolving digital capabilities such as predictive analytics, automation, and API integration.

  • Provide subject-matter leadership on enterprise initiatives targeting cost avoidance, cost reduction, service reliability, and working capital optimization.

Technical Execution, Operational Enablement and System Optimization

  • Own the functional design, deployment, governance, and continuous optimization of logistics technology solutions, ensuring platform stability, scalability, and successful implementation of strategic initiatives.

  • Lead development of analytics, dashboards, automated data solutions, AI virtual server, and decision-support tools, including the Transportation Management System (TMS), to improve visibility, risk management, and operational decision-making.

  • Partner with IT, operations, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into functional solutions, manage issue resolution, and validate implementation outcomes.

  • Drive operational excellence through process automation, continuous improvement initiatives, solution documentation, training, and stakeholder enablement activities.

  • Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes through governance forums, steering committees, and formal leadership reporting.

Who You Are:

You step up to handle tough issues. You represent own interests while being attentive to others' interests as well. You effectively communicate in various settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels. You evaluate pros and cons, risks and benefits of different solution options. You stage activities with relevant milestones and schedules.  You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field required; MBA or master's degree preferred.

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, transportation systems, analytics, or related disciplines supporting complex operational environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems, with Oracle Transportation Management preferred.

  • Advanced analytics and data visualization experience using platforms such as Power BI, SQLbased tools, or Oracle analytics environments.

  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and analytical workflows.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, crossfunctional programs across global teams and time zones.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Advanced Pythonbased automation for dataintensive logistics workflows and tooling.

  • Experience orchestrating ETL and integration workflows using modern scheduling or automation frameworks.

  • Deep SQL expertise across enterprise data models and large transactional datasets.

  • Direct experience deploying enterprisescale logistics initiatives such as consolidation programs, mode optimization, and international network expansions.
