Job description

Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Functional Solution Architect for Microsoft Dynamics 365 FSCM who owns the quality and integrity of functional solution design across their assigned supply chain workstreams. This person translates complex business requirements into scalable, implementation-ready designs and leads solution decisions across processes, integrations, data, and security.


This is a senior client-facing consulting role requiring deep functional expertise across D365 Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing. The ideal candidate has led multiple full lifecycle D365 FSCM implementations from discovery through go-live and stabilization, and is ready to set design direction, govern solution quality, and develop the functional consulting team. This is a primarily remote position; however, preference will be given to those located near or within reasonable proximity to the Lisle office.


Role Scope & Responsibilities


Solution Design Leadership

  • Leads fit/gap decisions for complex supply chain scenarios and solution areas
  • Defines how business requirements should be translated into scalable functional designs
  • Evaluates cross-module, cross-workstream, and non-standard design impacts
  • Establishes reusable design patterns, decision frameworks, and functional standards
  • Creates solution blueprints and functional architectures for end-to-end supply chain processes


Design Review & Governance

  • Reviews functional design documentation (FDDs) for completeness, quality, and alignment to standards
  • Approves solution approaches for complex or high-impact functional scenarios
  • Ensures design decisions are aligned across integrations, reporting, data dependencies, and security requirements
  • Advises on solution tradeoffs, risks, and downstream impacts of design decisions
  • Provides governance through discovery, design, build, UAT and stabilization


Solution Design Coaching

  • Mentors Senior Consultants, Consultants and Analysts on solution design quality and best practices
  • Provides guidance on how to structure requirements, FDDs, and functional decision-making
  • Builds strong discipline and consistency across the functional consulting team


Core Accountabilities

  • Owns the quality and integrity of functional solution design across assigned workstreams and solution areas
  • Leads complex, non-standard, and cross-functional design decisions
  • Establishes functional design standards, patterns, and guardrails for the supply chain practice
  • Guides design consistency across workstreams, integrations, reporting, data, and security


Functional Expertise Requirements


Candidates must demonstrate hands-on implementation experience configuring and deploying the following D365 FSCM modules:


Required - Core System Expertise

  • Production Control - production and/or batch orders, routing and operations scheduling, capacity planning, general production costing
  • Inventory Management - inventory dimensions and reservation hierarchies, costing and valuation, batch/serial tracking
  • Warehouse Management (Advanced WMS) - work templates and location directives, wave processing, mobile/RF execution
  • Master Planning - coverage groups, planned orders, demand/supply forecasting, planning optimization
  • Procure-to-Pay & Order-to-Cash - end-to-end process ownership across procurement and sales order management


Nice to Have - Additional Breadth

  • Transportation Management (TMS) - load and route planning, carrier management, freight reconciliation
  • Trade & Logistics - intercompany trade, product information management (PIM), product lifecycle, quality orders


Technical Awareness Requirements


While this is a functional role, candidates should possess working knowledge of:

Experience Requirements


Solution Architecture Experience

  • End-to-end D365 FSCM implementations and Dynamics AX 2012 and/or D365 migration projects

  • Conference Room Pilots (CRPs), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Go-Live Readiness

Required

  • 5+ years of ERP consulting experience
  • 5+ years of focused, hands-on D365 Finance & Supply Chain
  • 3+ full lifecycle D365 implementations as lead functional consultant or architect

  • Experience managing client stakeholders and executive sponsors

Salary & Benefits

The total compensation for this role is $130k to $175k, depending on years of comparable experience, skill set, and the unique value you bring.
