Remote Summer Associates are usually students engaged in project work within professional environments, often with a focus on gaining industry experience. Remote Interns tend to be learners seeking mentorship and skill development. While both roles are remote and involve entry-level tasks, Summer Associates often work on specific projects for a limited period, whereas Interns focus on learning and exposure.

How do Remote Summer Associates typically collaborate with their teams and supervisors?

Remote Summer Associates usually interact with their teams through a combination of scheduled video meetings, collaborative project management tools, and frequent email or instant messaging communications. While working remotely can sometimes feel isolating, most organizations facilitate virtual check-ins, mentorship sessions, and group discussions to ensure associates remain engaged and supported. Building strong relationships often involves proactively reaching out, participating actively in online meetings, and seeking feedback on assignments. These collaborative efforts help associates stay aligned with team goals and foster a sense of connection despite the remote setting.

What is a Remote Summer Associate?

A Remote Summer Associate is typically a student or recent graduate who takes on a temporary, project-based role with a company or organization during the summer months, working entirely online rather than onsite. These positions are common in fields such as law, consulting, finance, and technology, and they provide hands-on experience, networking opportunities, and exposure to professional environments. Remote Summer Associates collaborate with teams, attend virtual meetings, and complete assignments, all while working from a location of their choice. The remote nature of the job allows for greater flexibility and access to opportunities that may not be geographically accessible.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Summer Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Summer Associate, you need strong analytical abilities, research skills, and typically be enrolled in or have completed a relevant degree program such as law, business, or finance. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms is often required. Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for remote work environments. These competencies ensure you can deliver high-quality work, collaborate effectively with teams, and adapt to the unique demands of a remote professional setting.

Job description

Rising Tide Interactive is currently accepting Media Intern applications for our paid Summer/Fall Internship Program. Our interns will have the opportunity to join us in our work with Democratic campaigns, committees, PACs, and nonprofits to develop and implement the digital strategies that win races and create change. Also: *every* internship comes with training and mentoring opportunities (this isn't a gimmick; we want to help you learn!).
As a Media Intern you will:
  • Become familiar with media planning and gain proficiency with digital ad platforms, including ad trafficking and technical support.
  • Assist in implementing digital media plans, including learning the online advertising trafficking process and maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Help track payments and invoices, and learn how to ensure digital campaigns run accurately.
  • Assist with department projects, attend webinars and other one-time duties as assigned.

The important stuff:
  • Paid internship? Yep! We pay $17.95/hour
  • You can work part-time (at least 20 hours/week) or full-time (up to 35 hours/week)
  • Summer/fall internships typically run from May 18th to December 12th, but we're flexible with start/end dates. Promotion opportunities are available for interns to become full-time permanent Associates based on mutual interest.
  • Location: This position is based in our office in Washington, DC. This position will work a hybrid schedule, with two days a week in the office and three days remotely. Candidates must reside in a U.S. state in which the company is authorized to conduct business.
  • We will provide a laptop.

Nuts & bolts:
  • Applications will be accepted until the end of the day on Friday, April 24th and must include a cover letter and resume. Final selection decisions will be communicated by Friday, May 8th.

About Rising Tide Interactive:
Rising Tide Interactive works with Democratic campaigns, committees, PACs, and nonprofits to develop and implement the digital strategies that win races and create change. Since 2011, we've worked with clients like Sens. Tim Kaine and Jacky Rosen, Voto Latino, FWD.us, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. We're ready for our best election cycle yet in 2026.
Excited about this role but not sure if you meet all of the qualifications? We encourage you to apply anyway. We're always looking for talented people of all backgrounds to join our team. We prioritize creating a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment where everyone is empowered to do their best work. Candidates from all backgrounds, including people of color, women, members of the LGBTQ community, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
If you require a reasonable accommodation to fully participate in the job application or interview process, please email hr@risingtideinteractive.com with the subject line "Accommodations Request".
