Miami University's Communications and Marketing department has been charged with building and maintaining the university's brand on a local, regional, and national stage. This dynamic and award-winning team is comprised of over 70 marketing and communications professionals and is looking to hire an Administrative Assistant.
The Administrative Assistant will play a pivotal role in overseeing the smooth operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining a cohesive work environment. Key responsibilities may include monitoring the unit's budget, managing operational processes for the photo and video team, and supporting the Vice President of Communications and Marketing. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
This position has been approved for remote hybrid work: four days on campus, one day remote. Remote work is not a right, it is a work arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason, including the convenience of the University.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors and reviews operations of unit; ensures smooth work flow; ensures work product meets professional standards.
  • Serves as informational resource to staff; investigates and resolves problems or difficulties related to area of expertise.
  • Assists University staff, faculty, and students; answers inquiries and provides information.
  • May oversee staff; assists in the enforcement of policies and procedures; establishes schedules and reviews performance.
  • Gathers and analyzes statistical information regarding department's programs and activities; produces reports.
  • May assist in the performance of various financial and budgetary tasks including preparing and monitoring budgets, preparing fiscal reports, or processing payments; may maintain inventory of supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires nine (9) months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a marketing organization
