Job description

Data Center Estimator

The Data Center Estimator will support the development, analysis, and preparation of project cost estimates for data center infrastructure and mission-critical construction projects. This role is well suited for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical aptitude and an interest in growing within data center construction, structured cabling, and operations.

In this position, you will collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement partners, field operations, and vendors to produce accurate, competitive estimates that support successful project delivery, cost control, and profitability.

Position Details

·         Employment Type: Direct hire, exempt salaried position

·         Salary: $155,000

·         Work Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility required based on project demands

·         Location: U.S. remote; preference for candidates located near Plano, Texas

·         Travel: Up to 15%, primarily to the Plano headquarters

Key Responsibilities

·         Prepare and support cost estimates, bills of materials, and labor projections for data center construction and infrastructure projects.

·         Review blueprints, technical specifications, and scope documents to identify project requirements.

·         Partner with project engineers, field operations, and procurement teams to validate material quantities, labor assumptions, and vendor pricing.

·         Perform take-offs for structured cabling, electrical, and mechanical systems associated with data center environments.

·         Support bid preparation and proposal submissions for RFPs and client opportunities.

·         Maintain historical cost data, unit pricing, and vendor rate information to improve estimate accuracy.

·         Assist with change order analysis, including validation of scope changes and related cost impacts.

·         Ensure estimates align with company standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.

·         Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather technical, logistical, and project-specific details.

·         Contribute to process improvements that strengthen estimating accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.

Required Qualifications

·        

  • Hyperscale Data Center exposure required
  • 5+ yrs estimation of low voltage structured cabling projects (copper and fiber)
    • RFP/RFI
    • Bid preparation and submission
    • Cost controls, bills of materials (BOMs), & change orders
    • Perform take-offs for structured cabling, electrical, and mechanical systems related to data centers
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings  and blueprints
    • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, or cabling systems used in mission-critical facilities.
    • Familiarity with BICSI standardsdata center design concepts
    • Software – BlueBeam, Accubid, AutoCAD
  • All relevant experience should be listed on the resume
  • If a title of PM and just a few estimating duties, not the right candidate.  Must have the majority of the duties focused on relevant estimating experience
  • ISP mainly, but will consider OSP focused if they meet all the other requirements
Preferred Qualifications

·         Familiarity with BICSI standards, data center design concepts, or structured cabling practices.

·         Experience supporting vendor bid comparisons, RFP processes, or cost control systems.

·         Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or construction scheduling software.

·         Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
