We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Civil Engineering Intern to join our Global Utility Division. In this role, you'll be an active participant in contributing to the goals of the North America Steel Design Engineering team while learning best practices from some of the finest engineers in the world. You'll gain hands-on experience, exposure to cross-functional collaboration, and valuable insight into real-world engineering projects that make a global impact.

Valmont's internship program is designed to empower emerging professionals by offering meaningful work, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and subject matter experts across a variety of disciplines while building technical and professional skills that will serve you throughout your career.

What You'll Do:

  • Actively participate in design and analysis processes, recommending improvements to design criteria, analysis methods, and drafting procedures

  • Collaborate with team members from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering Services to understand the full product development process and assist in troubleshooting design challenges

  • Apply and expand your design knowledge while considering manufacturability and efficiency of final designs

What We're Looking For:

  • Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university

  • Completion of Statics and Mechanics of Materials coursework

  • Proficiency with CAD applications, including the ability to convert drawings to 3D models

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Coursework or experience in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Strength of Materials, along with advanced CAD skills and design application experience is highly preferred
