Our Structural Team and Projects
Our Structural Team works on varied building projects across institutional, commercial, residential, municipal, and historic preservation markets, with a strong mix of design, assessment, renovation, adaptive reuse, field observation, and collaboration. We solve real building challenges, work closely with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical and constructible solutions that serve communities.
Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards
What You'll Be Doing
As a valuable part of our Building Services Business Line, as a Senior Structural Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, to ensure structural integrity, compliance with codes, and alignment with project goals through responsibilities such as:
  • Lead structural design for vertical projects, including new buildings, renovations, additions, adaptive reuse, and remodels. Design systems using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood to meet applicable codes, loads, and project requirements.
  • Prepare and review structural drawings, specifications, design reports, and calculation packages using Revit, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineering disciplines, civil engineers, owners, and contractors to integrate structural systems with other building components and support constructability, efficiency, and compatibility across disciplines.
  • Perform and oversee design and documentation in accordance with IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and other relevant building codes and standards.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, performing site visits, documenting field observations, and resolving construction-related issues.
  • Support development of project schedules, scopes, budgets, technical approaches, and fee estimates, working closely with project managers to support timely and cost-effective delivery of structural engineering services.
  • Guide junior engineers and drafters by providing oversight and mentorship on design approach, software use, technical documentation, detailing, field observation, and engineering judgment.
  • Contribute to structural team workflows, technical tools, design standards, and best practices.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in structural design, analysis, and leading projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proficiency in structural design software such as RISA, MathCAD, Visual Analysis, Enercalc, and others
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Experience in designing multiple structural materials (e.g., steel, concrete, timber)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with seismic design and performance-based engineering
  • Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit
  • Knowledge of advanced analysis techniques, including finite element modeling
  • Experience in a variety of project types, including bridges, dams, or industrial facilities
