Principal duties include:

  • Architect and Optimize: Design, maintain, and fine-tune AWS RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and Amazon Redshift environments to ensure peak performance.
  • Manage Hybrid Infrastructure: Support MS SQL Server environments, including T-SQL scripting and SQL Agent jobs, across both on-prem and EC2-hosted instances.
  • Streamline Data Pipelines: Execute seamless data migrations and complex transformations between MS SQL Server, RDS, and Redshift.
  • Proactive Monitoring: Utilize Datadog and native AWS tools to monitor system health, preemptively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  • Champion Data Integrity: Partner with cross-functional teams to uphold rigorous standards for data security, availability, and compliance.
  • Standardize & Innovate: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and drive continuous improvement through strategic database recommendations.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • The ideal candidate will be located in the US mid-Atlantic region.
  • 3+ years of related experience preferred. 2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS RDS MySQL, and Amazon Redshift (development, tuning, monitoring, maintenance) required.  2+ years of experience with MS SQL Server technologies, including T-SQL, SQL Agent jobs, and EC2 required.
  • Proven experience in database/data migration between MS SQL Server and AWS RDS/Redshift.
  • Familiarity with Datadog for monitoring and alerting.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • AWS Certified Database – Specialty, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages for automation (Python and Powershell).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL pipelines.
