As a remote SQL server DBA, you work from home to monitor a network that uses Microsoft's structured query language for its primary databases. In your role as a database administrator, you help keep databases secure, troubleshoot live issues, work with system administrators to ensure database changes are in-line with operational needs, maintain documentation of the database environment and infrastructure, and ensure 24/7 database availability. Other duties may include mentoring new team members in a virtual environment to help them develop the skills they need. Most remote SQL server DBAs work on-call on a rotating schedule.
