Remote Sports Camera Operator information

What does a remote sports camera operator do?

A Remote Sports Camera Operator is responsible for capturing live footage of sporting events using cameras that are controlled remotely, often from a production truck or studio. They work closely with directors and producers to ensure that the most important action and angles are recorded for broadcasts or streaming. This role requires strong technical skills, quick reflexes, and a good understanding of sports to anticipate and follow the action. Operators may also be responsible for setting up and maintaining camera equipment and ensuring high-quality video output throughout the event.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote sports camera operator?

To thrive as a Remote Sports Camera Operator, you need strong technical expertise in camera operation, video production, and a solid understanding of sports coverage, often supported by experience or a relevant degree in film, broadcasting, or media. Senior Content Creative (Temp-to-Hire)

Armada

Los Angeles, CA • On-site, Remote

$121K - $151K/yr

Full-time, Contractor, Temporary

Posted 17 days ago

Job description

About the Role

Armada is doing things nobody has done before, and telling our story takes a team. As Senior Content Creative, you carry it from the field to the final cut. You're a filmmaker at heart: you can shoot, edit, animate, as well as photograph at a high level. A self-starter, you thrive on taking ideas from concept to final delivery.

Much of the time, you're operating solo: traveling to where the stories are unfolding, then shaping what you've captured into finished content for social and other channels. When we run our main shoots, you work alongside the Creative Director on set, providing assistance and creative support.

We're not looking for a specialist. We're looking for someone with range, a strong sense of taste, and the judgment to know what a story needs at any given moment. Armada's brand is elevated and cinematic, and everything you create carries that standard.

Please note that this role is a temp-to-hire position. Strong performers will be considered for full-time placement at the end of the contract period. This role is eligible for overtime.

Location:  Los Angeles, CA (Remote)

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Independently capture Armada's story in the field: events, customer sites, and moments worth telling, from planning through final delivery
  • Shoot photo and video, from quick run-and-gun social capture to cinematic camera work on our flagship productions
  • Own post end-to-end: edit, mix, and color across short-form cutdowns and longer brand films for social, web, sales, and internal use
  • Animate motion graphics and supporting assets for video and standalone content
  • Support the Creative Director on main shoots: pre-production prep, on-set production, and post-production turnaround

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of professional experience shooting, editing, and animating, with a reel that proves it: cinematography, editing, motion, and photography
  • Proven ability to operate solo: you can cover an event, cut the story, and deliver finished content
  • Fluency in social formats and pacing, with the craft to make short-form work feel premium
  • A point of view as a photographer, with an accompanying portfolio
  • An editor's sense of story. You can find the narrative in raw footage and know what to leave out
  • Fluency in the Adobe suite and the rest of the post pipeline
  • Color grading in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere, and audio mixing fundamentals
  • A strong sense of taste and an eye for what separates good craft from filler
  • Genuinely organized. You keep timelines, files, and shoot logistics in order
  • Open to travel, including international and to remote locations on short notice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA Part 107 certification and experience flying drones for aerial capture
  • Experience with 3D, Cinema 4D, or Blender for motion and design work
  • Background in commercial, brand, documentary, or editorial production
  • Experience at a technology company or startup
  • Comfort working directly with C-level or founder-level creative leadership
  • Experience shooting in industrial, technical, or field environments

Compensation

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.

We use a geographic pay structure based on cost-of-labor markets. This role is a contract to hire opportunity with the intent to convert to full-time employment after 3 months contingent upon strong performance. The range listed represents the estimated total over a full year.

  • Tier 1 (e.g., SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $139,288 - $174,110
  • Tier 2 (most U.S. metro areas): $121,120 - $151,400
  • Tier 3 (other cities): $115,064 - $143,830

Final compensation will be determined by experience, scope, and level, and may vary from the posted range.
