TheBharti labatThe Pennsylvania State University, in theDepartment of Biologyand theCenter for Infectious Disease Dynamics, is recruiting multiple highly motivatedPostdoctoral Scholarsto conduct research for an NIH-NSF funded project on human health, movement, and infectious diseases. The project focuses on the transmission dynamics and spatial trajectory of measles and Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as well as the environmental factors that contribute to spillover of Ebola.
Successful applicants will have experience inone of the following:
Spatial analysis using GIS
Quantitative disease modeling in R and/or Python
And some command ofat least twoof the following:
Statistics
Data analysis
Public health or global health
Strong scientific communication in English (Written and verbal), French fluency is a plus but not required
Creative, interdisciplinary thinkers interested in human health and infectious diseases research are encouraged to apply. Applicants with combined backgrounds of natural science and social science or quantitative training will be considered favorably.
These positions are 100% research, no teaching with potential for growth into postdoctoral leadership positions within Penn State's CIDD. Relocation to Penn State is required, remote work is not permitted. Salary follows published NIH postdoctoral pay scale.
We are a small, productive, fun lab with a history of placing postdocs into successful careers in academia, government, industry, and humanitarian organizations.
Education and Experience
Completed Ph.D. degree in Biology, Epidemiology, Ecology, or a related field required.
