Job description

We are a growing technology company in the FinTech and e-commerce space, building secure, enterprise-grade software solutions that power payment and data services. We empower our employees to make a meaningful impact by solving complex challenges, leveraging modern technologies, and continuously improving the way we work. If you're passionate about delivering high-quality software and thrive in a fast-paced environment where your ideas and contributions matter, we'd love to hear from you.

Job Overview:

This role directly drives one of our 4 corporate goals, Quality Service. You will have a direct impact on assuring Quality Service, which means that you'll help assess whether our products and services work as well as possible. In short, this role helps build the foundation of all of our products. As our business and product lines grow, our quality testing needs, complexities, and workload is increasing. We need a highly talented individual dedicated to leading our quality assurance testing across all of our products.

Responsibilities:

You're the creative devil's advocate that will seek to find holes in our design and products โ€“ before our customers do. You will design and execute test plans to validate the functionality and usability of new and existing software products. You will work closely with our engineers, product, and business partners to drive forth outstanding and reliable products and services. You will provide feedback on what needs improvement to produce top-quality products that exceed customer expectations.

You'll creatively anticipate as many things a customer might do with our products to preventatively uncover happy path, non-happy path, and true edge cases. You'll design a thorough and robust testing coverage program and processes. You'll provide insights and recommendations into how our existing regression and unit tests can improve.

  • Design and execute test plans to validate new products and features work as designed.
  • Design and execute regression test plans to ensure existing features continue to work as designed.
  • Debug issues to isolate and define error conditions.
  • Defining and documenting issues/defects in detail to provide development with everything needed to recreate and resolve the issue.
  • Retesting resolved defects and working with developers to ensure all aspects of an issue are resolved.
  • Find and explore edge cases.
  • Prioritization of feature testing and issue resolution.
  • Documenting, reporting, and tracking issues using Jira and other reporting tools.
  • Creating management reports on issue and resolution statistics and trends.
  • Monitor issue resolution progress to provide delivery estimates to implementation and customers.
  • Learn and use automated testing tools.
  • Build and execute automated application testing plans.
  • Assist development with defect recreation and resolution options.
  • Smoke testing of new products and features to aid product and development in design decisions.
  • Work with product to help create alternate solutions and product enhancements.
  • Work with customers to ensure test plans are consistent with usage.
  • Work with Implementation and Support to keep teams informed on issue resolution and delivery.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as a software QA tester for both API- and non-API driven software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail from multiple vantage points (external and internal users, user experience, engineering team, leadership team, etc.)
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Insatiable curiosity and determination to commit to finding and solving issues
  • Ability to dig deep into details and step back from 30,000 feet to assess and build scalable processes
  • Experience using project tracking software considered a strong asset (ex: JIRA)
  • Experience using version control systems (ex: Git or Mercurial) would be considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Who you are:

You strive to uncover complex problems and find great personal and professional fulfillment in solving them. You can put yourself into the mindset of a customer to uncover problems before an actual customer does. In addition, you are:

Remote-ready: You thrive in a fully virtual environment, bringing discipline, focus, and adaptability to remote work. You proactively manage your time, stay accountable without direct oversight, and leverage digital tools to collaborate seamlessly.

Team-oriented: You believe shared success and individual advancement go hand-in-hand. We share your values. You thrive in an inclusive, collaborative environment and hold yourself and your teammates accountable. You step up and step in when your team needs you.

Impact-driven: You find deep meaning and satisfaction in making an impact. You are self-aware about what motivates you and what instills passion. You take pride in being trusted to deliver results for your team. You embrace a growth-mindset. You reframe setbacks as gifted opportunities to improve. In short, you're a polite, ethical hustler.

Structured decision maker: You believe progress is rooted in a focused effort. To know how to focus, you work hard to understand the root cause and listen to different points of view. You prefer investigating to being right. You first identify the core drivers of a problem and work backwards to simplify the solution. You constantly think about 2nd and 3rd order effects of decisions. In general, you are optimistically paranoid about what you don't know.
