Job description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll lead the delivery of complex mechanical engineering projects within refining, chemical, terminal, and power generation facilities while serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients and project teams. You'll oversee mechanical engineering efforts from concept development through detailed design and project execution, providing technical leadership on facility upgrades, maintenance projects, balance of plant (BOP) systems, piping systems, and other critical infrastructure initiatives.

In this role, you'll lead mechanical engineering activities across multiple concurrent projects, working closely with Project Managers, Directors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client expectations. You'll apply advanced engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges, provide authoritative design guidance, perform quality reviews, and support project execution through all phases of development. You'll also mentor junior engineers, help strengthen technical capabilities across the organization, and promote engineering excellence through coaching and collaboration. You'll play a key role in maintaining and expanding client relationships by delivering high-quality technical solutions, providing responsive support, and serving as a trusted engineering resource. Success in this position comes from combining deep technical expertise with strong leadership, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients, industry professionals, and internal stakeholders.

This role is designated as remote, giving you the flexibility to primarily work from home while staying actively connected to your team and projects. We value collaboration and responsiveness, so we ask our remote team members to be available when in-office presence is needed—such as for client meetings, team events, training sessions, or field-related project support. This role may require occasional travel to client sites and project locations to support project execution, field investigations, design reviews, and client meetings. Travel is expected to be 10-20%.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years supporting refining, chemical, terminal, or power generation facilities.
  • Experience with balance of plant (BOP), facility upgrades, and/or maintenance projects involving piping systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design and full-cycle project execution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively work with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Experience with tank and pressure vessel analysis and design.
  • Experience with fired equipment, including boilers, heaters, and similar process equipment.
  • Experience performing pipe stress analysis using Caesar II.
  • Experience conducting hydraulic analyses for process and utility systems.
  • Experience leading quality reviews and mentoring junior engineering staff.
  • Consulting engineering and/or client-facing project experience.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages innovation.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career development.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and flexible work schedules.
  • Benefits offered include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.
