Industrial Air Filtration (IAF) seeks a skilled CAD Designer II to develop and refine innovative dust collection system solutions. This role focuses on creating detailed CAD models and drawings, collaborating closely with engineering and product management teams to ensure designs meet IAF standards, project requirements, and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will drive consistency and quality through adherence to departmental and industry standards, support design reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualified candidates must be able to work a hybrid schedule at our Bloomington, MN office.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Generate detailed CAD assemblies/drawings using SolidWorks, with limited supervision, for existing or new products.
  • Create clear and concise technical drawings for efficient manufacturing across multiple facilities and resolve technical challenges as they arise.
  • Assist internal teams or external clients by designing and implementing customized solutions that align with specific customer requirements, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and satisfaction.
  • Provide CAD support to develop innovative, yet functional, design concepts based on a defined list of technical project specifications.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to identify, evaluate, and present enhancement opportunities for current and future IAF designs, with a focus on improving quality, reducing cost, and supporting overall product strategy.
  • Actively participate in internal design reviews to ensure adherence to IAF standards and compliance with all project requirements.
  • Maintain and continuously improve departmental standards for drawings and models, ensuring alignment with industry best practices wherever possible to drive consistency and quality.
  • Follow file workflows and inter-company modeling/drawing/filename standards defined by the company's PDM software (Teamcenter).
  • Mentor CAD Designer I individuals, provide them with training, constructive feedback, and best practices to work effectively within IAF.
  • Projects will include processing engineering change orders, new product development, customer orders, proposals submittals, and technology development activities.
  • Independently provide CAD updates during project team and broader engineering meetings, ensuring clear communication of progress and design changes.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of CAD design experience (sheet metal experience strongly preferred) and High School Diploma or 1+ year of CAD Design experience and an Associate's degree in Mechanical Design or related field.
  • Experience in SolidWorks, including sheet metal design expertise.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical certificate (CSWE).
  • Strong competency with PDM software (Teamcenter preferred).
  • Experience with NX, DriveWorks, or Solid Edge.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic hand tool knowledge and manufacturing understanding.
  • Proven problem-solving and project management abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong focus on career growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while consistently meeting timeline and quality commitments/expectations.

Hourly Pay Range: $24.08 - $30.09 per hour, depending on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.
This position is overtime eligible as per state and federal regulations.
