Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Project Manager - Electric Transmission to lead electric transmission routing and permitting projects in California. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, entrepreneurial environmental consulting team and play a key role in the continued growth of Tetra Tech's transmission practice.

This position is affiliated with our Irvine, California office, with flexibility for remote work anywhere in California.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution

  • Serve as Senior Project Manager delivering transmission siting, routing, and permitting projects
  • Manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams supporting siting, routing, environmental permitting, and engineering/design efforts
  • Plan and execute projects to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives
  • Lead preparation and production of land use and resource permit applications for federal, state, and local agencies
  • Support consulting activities related to development, analysis, permitting, and financial aspects of transmission projects
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report health and safety incidents or concerns
  • Perform additional duties as required

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Identify, pursue, and win large electric transmission projects and programs
  • Leverage existing relationships with utility and developer clients
  • Review and respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs
  • Engage with clients to identify new opportunities and develop pursuit strategies
  • Prepare proposal documents, scopes, and cost estimates
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain current industry knowledge

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (required)
  • 10-15+ years of experience managing and supporting electric transmission siting, routing, and permitting projects
  • Prior environmental consulting experience strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of California siting application requirements
  • Experience providing expert witness testimony to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
  • Demonstrated experience with California regulatory agencies, including:
    • California Energy Commission
    • California Coastal Commission
    • California State Lands Commission
    • California Department of Fish and Wildlife
    • State Water Resources Control Board
  • Experience with CEQA, NEPA, federal and state permitting, transmission infrastructure, and renewable energy projects
  • Working knowledge of GIS and routing/siting software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and quality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Microsoft Project and/or ArcGIS preferred

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $140,000 - $180,000 annually

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
